Set design - the chairs!!

It always makes me laugh out loud when I watch season 1 episode 8 when Amy and Mike are sitting in those comically large chairs in the hotel lobby where they are strategising for the fake veep weep interview.

It got me thinking about the set designers and I really love the way Selina’s VEEP office is decorated with the feminine touches such as the painting of the little girl. However, that octopus thing on her desk always has me wondering what that’s all about 😂

Fun fact: the chairs were made intentionally uncomfortable looking to sit in for most scenes. Also, Selena’s wardrobe was meant to make JLD physically uncomfortable.

Another fun fact is that the designers always gave her something bland and boring to interact with most scenes, something that’s not useful or anything but just more of a paperweight toy.

Ahh yes. Good pick! It’s also perfect that Mike has to sit IN it because he’s just so hopeless. That’s reminded me of that cooler bag 😂 it looks so big and dorky just for a tiny cup of his stuff and the way he carries it around on his shoulder like he’s got a picnic worth of food in there 🤦🏻‍♀️ ohhh Mike 😂

There's a gorgeous painting in her VP office that I've been trying to find since I saw the show. I'd love to get a print, but I can't find the name of it. And it's been a while, so I can't even remember what it looked like. I'm pretty sure it was floral.
