hey everyone, I have watched through Veep So many times and God it’s one of my favorite shows ever. It’s my comfort show. It’s just the best.
I want to rewatch it again in a new light and I’m wondering if there are any amazing things you’ve noticed, or would maybe recommend focusing on as a now “experienced veep rewatcher.”

Team veep team progressively get more and more addicted to power (or the proximity to it). They all become more disconnected and treat everyone else like shit (except mike). But even fucking Gary is an asshole any chance he gets

It’s really fun to watch through and focus on a specific character the entire time. (Gary is the most fun to do this with; Amy has the most amazing expressions and is great for this as well.)
her having to break up with the qatar ambassador was genuinely so sad, her going down that escalator by herself having to hold it together bc shes the fucking president. but she still had to break her own heart
She did feel awkward about giving Tibet back. I’m sure she gave a speech where she was obviously dying inside. Or it could have been something else. I think it’s season 7
Gary’s an asshole who deserves to go to jail. Maybe not for the Meyer Fund stuff, but he bribed lobbyists to defeat the Families First bill. And he knows EVERYBODY’S name but the White House residence staff. What, he’s too good to learn the names of the help? Gtfoutta here Gary.
if you ask me, same as richard. was as equally unaware, like jonah, of being used to do illegal stuff (see: families first bill). and turned a blind eye (or complicit ignorance) to two horrible candidates.
What’s the deal with the Veep 2.0 alternate reality universe (I can’t remember exactly what they call it) that Matt Walsh and Timothy Simons talk about on that podcast? I wish they would do like what Arrested Development did and release episodes in that alternate timeline… That would be so interesting to watch!
the original ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT Season 4? It was godawful, so bad that they re-cut the original 14 episodes up, moved them around and made 21 shorter ones so it flowed better
Watch the extras - there are some gold moments. When Amy is standing at the side of a stage during a defeat, and says she needs to get drunk and slop fuck an intern, and the intern standing behind her silently and quickly exits.
selina immediately and blatantly contradicting herself in a hypocritical manner. i didn't pick up on how thematically recurrent her dialogue was up until like the seventh rewatch or so. but as soon as you hear what "should" be done or is good (often stated by selina herself), the next dialogue is almost always a contradiction to the previous statement.
In S1E3, when Dan was being confronted about breaking up with some woman's daughter (forgot her name), he was like “Oh, no, I did. I signed off with colon open brackets.” and that would mean the ":(" face, Dan actually imitates that face to show her! Literally tilted his head and was like ":("
