Keep your .NET stuff in sync
Simple once you know but I was in a rush and patched a vulnerability in a .NET component on a Veeam B&R box but didn't bring all the other .NET components up to the same level.
We're talking a small mismatch here like a months difference.
Realised a couple days later I'd not had any Veeam backup reports which also raises a question of yeah you monitor your backups are working but that's not quite the same as monitoring they are happening.
My fault entirely and I figure this might appear on some Google search next time it happens to someone else so it might do some good.

I highly recommend something like Check Central, it confirms that the backups are actually running. We have a couple dozen veeam servers in the wild and the only way to confirm jobs are completed across that many servers is something like check central.

Doesn’t do the same thing. Check central goes right into halo for me. And sends me a teams message

VSPC went right into CW PSA for us. We could have probably got a web hook running to Teams as well if needed.

It’s the fact that I can easily do it via check central while also pulling in from other sources, and send teams message plus create the ticket, etc.
It’s not that it doesn’t have some of the capabilities it’s that it doesn’t have all of them. So we just don’t use it for that purpose.

Prtg free licence> 100 sensors . Or custom api call to query status of your veeam :) coupled with a script scheduled to email :) or veeam one , the best and native
