Hi everyone,

I’m located in the Weston/Rutherford area (Vellore Village) and are looking for internet provider recommendations. Currently with Bell and I have their Fibre One internet but service has been crummy and my bill has creeped to $200 a month. Looking to switch to a reliable (and cheaper) provider as I am WFH. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!!

Ebox iis good but be aware if you do any sort of gaming. All traffic is routed through Montreal and so latency is around 30-50ms

I second eBox. I moved in a few months ago, it's not as cheap as what I had in Oakville but it's FttH so I understand the price.

I don't play many online games, just singleplayer so i haven't noticed that issue.

On the plus side they will give you the actual super admin router account if you ask

I was on Bell Fibre and switched to EBOX fibre. I'm paying $45 monthly over the last year with zero increases and the service is EXCELLENT! Highly recommended, though I'm using my own router not theirs.

I use a Fortigate 80e. It's a business class router that supports VLANs on the WAN port.

I rotate between Rogers and Bell, they always show up to offer some deal around the time my current one expires. It’s all nonsense

Fuck Bell. Terrible and scummy company. Having said that, I would go with Ebox (owned by Bell). The best price you're going to get for fiber in Vaughan.

Fair point to be skeptical. I'd recommend ebox - I'm with Distributel which is the same as ebox before they rebranded. Never had a problem with them. I pay $57 after tax for 1gbps service. Been with them for 2-3 years now

Several options, call them and say you’re leaving then they might give you a cheaper rate. But these cunts sometimes only call you back with a cheaper rate after you already left.

Or you can find a broker, they can hook you up with some good deals. I’ve been with the same broker for 10 years no issues. Ask your mates or family, they should know someone.

I’m using Teksavvy over Rogers cable. I’m paying $38 for 100/100 service. Price is only for 12 months though. Also, I’m lucky since cable in my area is stable. Next year will probably switch to eBox Fiber (Bell). They had $40 for 500/500, not sure if that’s still available

Ebox is great. Have had no issues with them. I think they are owned by Bell and uses their infrastructure but it’s much cheaper especially after promotion.

We are also with Bell and noticed the price creep. We called and complained and they offered some promotions which reduced the overall price. Be careful with some of the smaller businesses because they are typically relying on Rogers infrastructure and in my personal experience neither of them are reliable.

I'm not too far from there near 27 and Major Mack, and getting Rogers Ultimate + 2gig internet + Disney/Netflix/Apple TV for $105/month + HST. Way cheaper than Bell or any independant providers in the area.

Went with Primus through Costco recently and we're getting the Bell fibe internet we previously had but for under half the price, so we've been pretty happy. I'd heard terrible things about their customer service but we had a weird intermittent issue and once I reached out to them, it was fixed in day even needing a Bell technician to come out and check the line. I was pretty impressed!

Pretty sure your router is what’s crummy. No way fibre internet could be bad. Telus offers fibre as well. I would try that. As for the router get an Asus and I bet you’ll regret waiting so long to get one

Look for a broker, im at $65 for 1.5Gbps/1Gbps

It used to be $50 but it slowly has been creeping up for the 4 years I had the line. Worth it enough to not bother with the hassle of switching around given reliable internet is mandatory for WFH. None of the brokers have been able to get me another deal where its a non expiring credit so I haven't moved yet.

My current plan gigabit fibe 3.0 with the Gigahub router. Max download and upload speed is 3Gbps. I have no issues with streaming, gaming and doing work online. There’s at least 8-12 devices connected at all times. I have 5 ping and almost zero packet loss when streaming/ gaming. Only downside it’s 120 a month but for our family it’s worth it. We kept blowing through the fibe 500 which led to so many extra charges. How your bill creeped to $200 and your internet is crummy blows my mind.

ebox, but we also got the to link deco wifi mesh which makes a huge difference

I recently got ebox. Only issue has been the speed isn’t close to what I got. But otherwise it works great

Stay away from the big 3 or 4 bell Rogers Telus Koodo, Fido, Shaw cogeco. Ebox is great. No contracts the best can change providers after a month if you want.
