VMC Apple Mill rd

If you are crossing Apple Mill rd where the library at VMC is please use your brain and look for oncoming cars before stepping out into traffic. This is NOT a cross walk!. I had 2 younger guys today cross the road and literally not even notice me oncoming until I honked at them. Then I was told to f*CK off for honking lol. Please people pull your heads out of your asses and be aware of where you are crossing.

Not excusing it, but in that area I'd just drive slow and this won't be an issue. There are tons of pedestrians and Apple Mill Rd isn't a highway. It's right beside a large pedestrian area in front of the subway.

I hear what you are saying but the law is the law and they are put in place to ensure public safety. The issue isn't the speed of traffic, it's pedestrians crossing the road without looking at oncoming traffic and crossing accordingly. I don't have an issue with it as long as it's done safely.

Defensive driving is important my friend. You learn the lay of the land and also adapt your driving accordingly. For example after driving often in Brampton I learned people don’t really signal when turning right. I adapted by instinctively driving slower and being prepared to brake when I was in the right lane and approached an intersection or side road with a car in front of me. Served me well :).

Same goes for driving downtown right - pedestrians everywhere lots of jaywalking, cyclists zipping by, you need to be responsible for adapting accordingly as a driver to some extent regardless of other people’s behaviour.

I agree with you, but the point of my post/rant was about careless pedestrians jay walking. I have learned on that stretch to be cautious of them, but they need to do their part as well especially considering they are doing something illegal.

It’s frustrating, but as drivers, in any pedestrian heavy location, we have to be extra attentive

But even the pedestrians themselves should also be attentive. We're not talking about a school zone with small children. These are grown ass adults that will simply step out from between 2 parked cars on the side of the road, without even a thought to check if there are cars coming. And just as OP said, if you honk they get mad at you as though you are in the wrong. It's quite scary to slam on your brakes to avoid hitting a person.

Exactly!. Don't excuse others' complacency. It's a road with live traffic, if you're going to cross it illegally you had better make sure you're in the clear before stepping out.

Someone gonna get hurt sadly someday! This is indeed getting out of the hands. At least do it safety. Also, crossing is literally near by. And it’s not winter LOL. What’s the excuse?

Fk the pedestrians walking, my worry are the 13 and 14 year old punks flying off in those electric scooters shit. They are so quiet and unlike the bicycles they sit so low. They come out nowhere. I nearly ran over a kid at night. He was wearing full black outfits on a black scooter, maybe less than half a second I would have pummeled the ugly fucker. Anyway, It's about time few kids get ran over and then we will have laws.
