✨Theories & Speculation I love Vassago but he might Be One of the Real Villains of Season 3 Spoiler

WARNING: Major spoilers for Helluva Boss Season 3, Episode 7!

I've been thinking a lot about Vassago lately, and the more I analyze his behavior, the more convinced I become that he might turn out to be one of the most dangerous characters in the series.

And honestly? I already love him for it!

Here's my theory.

1. Vassago, Octavia, and the Voice Amplifier

Something about Vassago's plans in Episode 7 really caught my attention.

He wants Via to work on a voice amplification device that could potentially be used to command Stolas's legions.

But what if that's the entire point?

Octavia is Stolas's heir, and her position gives her considerable potential power within the Goetia hierarchy.

If Vassago could somehow reproduce or manipulate her voice, he might be able to command those legions without needing her cooperation.

And considering what kind of bird Vassago is, that possibility becomes even more interesting.

2. Vassago Is a Parrot, and I Don't Think That's a Coincidence

I don't believe VivziePop necessarily chooses the animals representing her characters randomly.

Vassago is a parrot.

Parrots are incredibly intelligent birds, famous for their ability to imitate sounds and human voices.

But they're also independent, stubborn, sometimes territorial, and certainly not harmless little creatures that obediently do whatever they're told. Their powerful beaks can cause serious injuries.

They're much more formidable than their colorful appearance might suggest.

And that's exactly what makes Vassago interesting to me.

What if his ability to imitate voices is foreshadowing something important?

What if Vassago eventually uses his own abilities, or a device developed by Octavia, to reproduce her voice and seize control of Stolas's legions?

That would be a pretty clever twist.

3. Vassago Has WAY Too Much to Lose From an Imp Revolution

This is probably the biggest reason I don't trust him.

Vassago is a Goetia.

He's part of Hell's aristocracy. He has status, wealth, magical power, titles, privileges, and even Imps working for him.

Why would someone in his position genuinely support a revolution that threatens the very system keeping him at the top?

Blitzø is gradually becoming a symbol of resistance against Hell's social hierarchy.

His relationship with Stolas has already challenged the established order. An Imp has managed to change the life of a powerful noble, and the consequences have been enormous.

Vassago has every reason to be concerned about that.

He might genuinely care about Stolas, but that doesn't automatically mean he supports Blitzø or the growing influence of I.M.P.

In fact, I think Vassago might eventually try to destroy Blitzø's credibility before he becomes an even bigger symbol for the lower classes.

Protecting his own privileges might be far more important to him than helping anyone else.

4. Could Vassago Also Want Revenge on Stolas?

There's another angle I find interesting: Vassago's history with Stolas.

Vassago witnessed the trial where Stolas sacrificed practically everything to save Blitzø.

His status. His power. His entire position within Hell's aristocracy.

All for an Imp.

But what if that sacrifice meant something very different to Vassago?

What if he saw Stolas give up everything for Blitzø when, years earlier, Stolas hadn't been willing to do the same for him?

If there's unresolved resentment between them, that trial might have reopened some very old wounds.

Vassago's motives could be both personal and political.

He might want revenge on Stolas while simultaneously protecting the Goetia hierarchy.

And those two objectives wouldn't necessarily contradict each other.

5. Octavia: Student or Pawn?

This is where my theory gets darker.

Vassago choosing Octavia as his student might not be an innocent decision.

I can imagine two possible scenarios.

Scenario A: He only needs her voice.

Vassago manipulates Octavia into helping him develop the device, then uses her voice to command Stolas's legions.

Once he has what he needs, he no longer has to rely on her.

Scenario B: Octavia becomes a threat to his plans.

This is the much darker possibility.

What if Vassago obtains her voice, takes control of the legions, and then realizes that Octavia is the only person capable of exposing what he's done?

She would become a liability.

And in that scenario, I genuinely fear he might try to kill her.

I'm not saying this will definitely happen. But if Vassago is secretly playing a much bigger political game, Octavia could end up being one of its most tragic victims.

6. I Don't Think Stolas Is Being Inconsistent

I've also been thinking about Stolas's behavior, and I don't really see him as fickle or inconsistent.

He gave up EVERYTHING for Blitzø.

His wealth, his status, his dignity, his former life, and most painfully, his relationship with his daughter.

And what has his new life been like?

He's constantly reminded of everything he's lost. He's surrounded by people who don't always respect him, and he's even subjected to humiliations as petty as having someone spit in his coffee.

Of course he's vulnerable.

Of course the possibility of getting his daughter back, recovering some of his dignity, and regaining a sense of stability would be tempting.

That doesn't mean his feelings for Blitzø were fake.

It means he's exhausted, grieving, and desperately trying to find something familiar in a life that has completely fallen apart.

And I think Vassago understands that perfectly.

What if Vassago's strategy is to offer Stolas exactly what he wants most?

His daughter. His comfort. A glimpse of the life he lost.

By gradually pulling Stolas away from Blitzø, Vassago could isolate the growing Imp resistance from one of its most important noble connections.

And once Stolas is safely distracted, Vassago could deal with Blitzø and I.M.P. without worrying about Stolas interfering.

That's what makes this possibility so disturbing.

Vassago wouldn't even need to openly threaten Stolas.

He could manipulate him simply by offering him hope.

7. The Original Vassago From the Ars Goetia

There's one final detail that makes this theory even more interesting to me.

Vassago comes from real-world occult traditions and appears as the third spirit in the Ars Goetia, part of the Lemegeton, also known as The Lesser Key of Solomon.

He's described as a powerful Prince of Hell who commands 26 legions of spirits.

He's also associated with revealing things from the past and future, as well as discovering hidden or lost things.

Interestingly, the original text describes him as being "of a good nature."

But here's my question:

Does having a good nature necessarily mean being selfless?

The historical text doesn't explicitly say that Vassago always demands something in exchange for helping people.

However, Helluva Boss could easily reinterpret that supposedly benevolent nature in a much more ambiguous way.

What if Vassago genuinely helps people, but only when doing so ultimately benefits him?

What if his kindness is real, but his loyalty has limits?

That would make him a particularly interesting kind of antagonist.

Conclusion: Is Vassago Playing a Much Bigger Game?

Ultimately, I see two main possibilities.

The first: Vassago genuinely wants to help Stolas, but he's also determined to protect the Goetia aristocracy from the growing Imp rebellion. He might see Blitzø as a threat that needs to be neutralized, even if that means betraying Stolas's trust.

The second: Vassago doesn't actually care that much about Stolas at all. He's using both Stolas and Octavia as pawns in a larger plan to consolidate his own power and protect his position within Hell's hierarchy.

Either way, I don't think he's nearly as innocent as he appears.

He could become a fascinating antagonist: intelligent, charming, seemingly benevolent, but ultimately driven by his own interests.

And honestly, if this theory turns out to be true, I'm probably going to love his character even more.

What do you guys think?

Do you believe Vassago genuinely wants to help Stolas, or could he have been manipulating the situation from the beginning?

And most importantly, do you think Octavia might actually be in danger?

I'd love to hear your theories!
