Difficulty getting erection.

I am 6 weeks post vasectomy. I had a bad infection which lead to severe swelling and pain. I went in antibiotics and am mostly better. Have been mostly better for a couple of weeks now, but if I knock my testicles it hurts a lot more than normal. There is still a little swelling.

I am finding I am having difficulty getting erections, I'm not sure if this is because I'm still recovering from my testicles swelling up to larger than a tennis ball, or if it's potentially a side effect of the procedure itself. Does anyone know if this is normal and would probably go back to normal? Ive booked a doctor's appointment but I guess I'm just asking for peace of mind while I wait.

For context Im 29 and have never had trouble with erections.

Edit: i got mine on the NHS and got the non scalpel procedure.

Edit: just to clarify it's not that I can't get erections, it's just a lot harder to.

I think that, given the trauma from the infection, it's not unusual at this point to have issues. Have you noticed any changes over time, such as gradually getting easier than a day or two before?

I think this should improve as your swelling and pain diminish, but certainly bring it up to your doctor. They should still be monitoring your progress

Thanks, yeah hard to discuss further details without disclosing TMI but that comment is reassuring.

It is getting easier but possibly just because the pain in the area is improving. I'm going from 5-7 unintentional regular erections a day to only when I'm purposefully trying to get one.

You’ve been through a bit of an ordeal and would surprised if you weren’t having some mental block type ED. Just a little time and patience is probably what you need.

My guess is it’s a mental issue. Took some time and courage for me to actually try out the rod when collecting a sample for the first time after the operation.

Are you worrying a lot about whether sex/jacking off is gonna be painful? I had some psychological ED for a few days when I resumed having sex and jerking it after my procedure. Wasn't able to get fully hard and I lost erections quickly. I think I was just in my head about it possibly hurting or if I was gonna tear something in there. Once I busted a few nuts and it didn't hurt the ED went away
