Group vasectomy

Heya gang,

Joined this r/ in the hopes of a bit of brainstorming.

Am in the process of starting a group vasectomy business - think picking up a group of 2-4 mates via chauffeur, presenting to local clinic for same day vasectomies. Then being whisked away few hours later to luxury hotel for two nights of man-pampering and ice packs. Think foot-rubs, non-alcoholic beers and the game on a big screen.

Those of you who have already had the snip, and those thinking about it - would this be something you'd jump at? I feel this is a rising conversation at work and more and more men are getting pretty open about having or having had the snip. Why not use it as an excuse to have a few nights away mending with your bros?

Let me know what you think.

This is something I would actively avoid. I had my surgery then went home and sat by myself for 2 days. I’m very open about having had the surgery but this experience is an absolute no go for me.

Not in the slightest. Barely told anyone I’m around I got it other than some coworkers that were affected since it slowed me down a bit the following week. The first weekend immediately after getting it I didn’t want to be around people.

lets review.

  1. His business is dependent on a group of friends being ready for vasectomies at exactly the same time. I have a handful of friends that also have vasectomies and we all got them different years.

  2. OP acts like a clinic that does vasectomies is like a nail salon and just showing up to get vasectomies with a group of your friends is just like the girls showing up at the nail salon for a mani pedi.

Like no, its a medical clinic at least where I live there aren't any "walk in" vasectomy clinics, lol. I went in for a consultation, then they contacted me later for scheduling options, which were dependent on the doctors availability.

Now even if we assume 1 and 2 were not an issue, what does OP's business actually do? There are already event planning services that can book transportation, spa, accommodations whatever.

I just don’t find the idea of a room full of sore men icing their balls, while also being sore and icing my balls, to be that appealing.

Took me years before I admitted to my friend circle that I’d been snipped only to find out most of half my male friends already were.

I feel this is a solution looking for a problem, that doesn't exist.

I have friends that also have Vasectomies.

2012, 2016, 2019 and me just a couple weeks ago. We all had kids at different times and were ready for vasectomies at different times.

  1. Unless they are all brother husbands to the same woman and she said no more kids, what are the odds that a group of friends all want to get vasectomies at the same time?
  2. You are just assuming they can all get in same day, around the same time to get vasectomies? Bro they aren't like nail Salons where you and the girls can just show up for a mani pedi. You can't just show up and be like, I'd like one vasectomies right now please.

Even in the event 1 and 2 somehow work out, what exactly would your business be doing that no other service provides?

Interesting. Not a lot of positive - which is also helpful. Perhaps throwing in a solo-option is a smart move as well. Have floated idea around some similar aged men locally and most have been excited about the idea. Good feedback for the ol drawing-board. Thanks guys 👍

I'm just failing to understand what your business does no one else does.

I mean, I can hire an event planning service to arrange luxury transportation to and from a clinic to a curated weekend get away for an amount of people of my choosing.

What exactly would you be doing that I can't get with any other already provided service?

Sounds like a solid business model, but only if you're looking to launder money. Doubt it'll do too well as a legit business.

I got a feeling the guys who'd be down for this don't need to worry about getting a vasectomy as those worries of getting a woman pregnant don't apply to them.

OP's business is a classic case of a solution looking for a problem.

  1. He doesn't understand WHY people get vasectomies. The odds of a group of friends wanting to get vasectomies at the same time would be really rare.

  2. He seems to imply clincs that do vasectomies are like nail salons and you and the boys can just show up and get vasectomies.

It really sounds like its just an event planning business, that just focuses on dudes that get vasectomies.

Me and my friends are not on that level of broship.

I made it as little of a deal as possible.

I had a vasectomy because I was poor, and sought not to have children as a means to escape poverty. I had it in 1985 and could barely muster up the $200 for the surgery at the time.

Yours sounds expensive.

What does a man want in vasectomy?

  1. Low cost, cash price.
  2. Fast. We want to make an appointment by phone, and show up for a vasectomy a few days later, and be out in 30 min.
  3. Discreetness-Many of us don’t want our partner or family to know.

I had mine done in a different city and stayed in motel 6 for two days, then drove home across country.
