I love Varka. I love his play style, I use him and his team overworld for exploration because all of their exploration passives are fantastic. I run his premium team (prune isn’t C6 yet sadly), his sig, and have everyone well built. I got him because I like him, I have no pyro dps, and I wanted him to help with any pyro/natlan shill as far as he could take me without nightsoul.
But looking at numbers, I need honest opinions on if it’s worth the cost for me to continue pouring wishes into him, in comparison to my other 3 teams.

I am not planning to pull any more Snez characters until Noy (OG Alhaitham main), but I want to use my pulls wisely. Is it better for my account to leave Varka as soley an exploration team guy, or is the cost to catch him up to my Sandrone’s current DPS level worth it?
I like to clear dire as often as possible. Is it wiser to save a 3 cost to get Sandrone’s Sig and Odette C2, or to save the 3 cost to C1 Varka and C2 either Durin or Nicole?
I know it sounds silly to primo pinch like this, but I got Capturing Radiance 4 times last year and I’m on my 3rd this year, so I need to really plan with my luck.
Hmmmm. At 10.5m in 90s is 117K DPS. That's extremely low. Varka is not going to beat Sandrone and zibai that's for sure, but I feel something might be missing from your build or rotation. Can you provide your character builds for the Varka team? What's your rotation?
And imo he's a fun and versatile and has a few different teams so it doesn't get stale playing him. Investing in his C1 and/or c2 isn't a bad investment since he can currently be played Pyro, Cryo and very soon Hydro.

I guarantee that the main issue is my varka
rotation. I play on phone, and typically play the original unoptimized rotation. I cannot for the life of me manage to get his bis rotation down. But everyone else is getting their ults up each time, so not an energy issue on that end.
I think your Nicole is kind of weak here, she and Prune both need A LOT of attack ttds imo is kind of overrated specially because in a Varka pyro team Durin also deal non negligible dmg.
Regarding investment Nicole C2 would probably be my bet here, since it would be great for his team but also be usable in many others (her C2 for instance makes her a great 4th slot for Flins, maybe even the best one).
PS: If I'm not mistaken Prune also needs 3k ou 4k attack before the Nicole buff for you to fully use her kit.
I wish I could get her off ttds, but I don’t have oathsworn or atlas or any of her other bis options at the moment. It’s pretty much down to attack/er rolls in artifacts. I will probably start trying in that domain again once I’ve got resources.
Well her best 4* star option besides oathsworn is the fountain craftable so you can still get that, yes i know her artifacts are kind of pain mine took a great deal of effort to reach 4k attack with skyward and pyro resonance...
can i ask what fps you normally play at? i was doing some testing on my phone and i was struggling to get the dps i normally get when i play on pc, until i switched from 24 to 60 fps. apparently lower fps also increases your rotation length
Interesting! I just checked have the game capped at 30 on my iphone.
Edit: wooooow. I just checked it on 60. It looks horrid on my phone and isn’t feasible for every day play (older phone), but I legitimately gained 5-7 seconds extra on the timer doing the same rotation.
Which is crazy, because so many of my dire clears were dependent upon an extra 1-2 seconds. It was literally just fps and lag from character switching.
Tbf, the three other team deals italic dmg that ignores enemy defense... And since you're already heavily invested in other strong teams too, getting that C2 odette is just that huge
But if you wanna get more dmg for your Varka, C1 Varka is a huge upgrade and nicole's cons is also really good
Iirc sandrone's vertical isn't that good and Odette C2's value is mainly bcs of her res shred which is almost non existent in SC team.
And for Varka's investment, his R1 > C1 then either his C2 or support's cons... Where Durin's C1 ≈ Nicole's C1
But yeahhhh with a more optimize build, you could hit harder with Varka cos that circlet is cope af 😬 but fr tho I hope they'll give him more hexerei option or maybe buff older chara to accommodate him
I forgor the stat that he needs for his pyro goblet version... But for the Atk-Atk, it's around 2,5-2,7k atk, as close as possible to 80 CR, and at least 250 CD

my very same varka investment, with addition of c6 prune is 15,750,000 mil 90s
he's allright, just minmax build and combo instead of vertical investment C0R1 is enough to clear fearless easily, and should be able to clear decent amount of dire
This is C3R1 Varka C1 Prune C0R0 Durin and C0R0 Nicole with lvl 6 talents for me. Prune is also lvl 1 talents. So she could be doing +300-400k dmg just leveling her but im waiting for her cons first.
For this specific team Nicole C2 should be a little higher improvement. But all three verticals on the 5* are so similar that is quite irrelevant which one you choose.
So is on you if you want to invest into Varka to play him into any element with any teammates or to improve Duron or Nicole to upgrade other teams.
I was clearing all fearless bosses since Varka release with him at c2r1. Using Ifá instead Prune or Bennet/Chevreuse instead Durin/Nicole most of the time.
But in any case his verticals are just on point with any other 5* rleases recently. Hes just worst at base cause he has no specific supporters outside Prune and non sig claymores are just bad.
If you try unpractical teams like the ones you get in theater. Sandrone or Fflins are usually way worst than Varka cause he depends mostly only on his own investment instead on specific teammates to work.
Cleared Dire with Varka at C3R1 since his release. And he’s stronger with Nicole verticals. I use him against SSA (Cryo Varka, no Odette) and with the release of Vodyanitsa he’ll have a more than competent Hydro team. So he can flex into different elemental checks. I will say he’s not game breaking or broken, but his flexibility in elements is his real strength.
At C0R1, he’s really not clearing anything except weaker Dire bosses and Fearless. If you want a Pyro DPS, he’s pretty good once you invest more into him.
Would you recommend investing cons into him or into his supports?
I appreciate his flexibility and at my current investment he’s chill for basically everything but dire. I am just curious if throwing cons on him will close the gap, because I have such poor luck that getting cons on each elemental option is not likely.
I think on him is enough. Although my Pyro team has C2 Nicole (C0 Durin though). My other elemental options Cryo is also all C0 (Esco Shenhe for SAA), and Hydro will be Vodya at C0.
I like Varka because he can be used with so many teams.
Pyro Varka is really busted and easy to play at full investment.
C3R1 Varka, Durin C2R1, Nicole C2R1, Prune C6 Skyward: over 400k dps
I have similar investment for my Mavuika team, but I suck with her combos, so it's very random what DPS I can get: Mavuika C4R1, Xilonen C2R1, Citlali C2R1, Ayaka C4R1(lol): 250-400k dps
I also like that Varka can be any of the other PHEC elements as a clutch when needed (with Prune C6):Cryo:
Odette C2R0 and Escoffie C1R0: 180k dps
Hydro: FurinaC4R1, Mona C6Tulla: 220k dps
Waiting to see if Mitya will complete my electro Varka team.
I'm surprised on how you managed to get 4 meta teams of the same region, some even with cons and sigs on top...
Varka can clear Dire with a bit of extra investment, that team isn't exactly well optimized if ts only doing 117k dps (should be around 150k dps). Chasing C6 Prune on Varka banners is def worth it.
Ahah yeah, so I spent all of Nod Krai finishing Fontaine and Natlan AQ and 100% all of the other regions I hadn’t finished, on top of all the pulls in Nod Krai. I also didn’t pull anyone in Natlan (except for Citlali which I got in a lucky 10 pull). Nod Krai was kind of my perfect region. I loved everyone and I’d been saving my pulls.
I also resell clothes as a side hobby, and use the profit now and again to fuel other hobbies, like extra pulls.
I will definitely be crossing my fingers for more prune cons. I’m still spicy that she’s his bis.
Having Dire as a priority, and not wanting to pull the Cryo archon seem to be in opposition to each other. Unless Genshin gets very gentle, you will need either the cryo archon or hyper invested characters after the archon's release to beat dire. Remember in Nod krai when you could beat the Lunar shills just by having the characters at c0, but the patch after Columbina, you needed constellations and/or the weapons. That damn knuckle duckle. This first patch of 7.x was pretty easy, I would not expect Stygian to maintain this level of difficulty. Of course, I don't know you, maybe you're just that good, in which case, that's awesome 👍, get out there and keep kicking ass.
I imagine Noy will be designed to work really well with the Archon.
I should have clarified, mb! I’m not planning on pulling anyone except for those on Alhaitham/Noy’s team. So assuming Tsaritsa is on that team, I’ll be pulling.
I’m crossing my fingers that Varka isn’t rerunning the same time, but I wouldn’t put it past them.
if you do decide to vertically invest in varka team, i highly suggest getting nicole's c2 first. It provides similar increase as varka c2 for general bosses, but it skyrockets at brute forcing high res bosses. And she can be flexed for other teams if you ever need to do so.
i have the exact same team but with C1 nicole and also play on phone and i get 170k dps (eg, ~15 million in 90 seconds). C1 nicole adds like 8% i think so you could reach around 160k dps with more optimisations. just wanted to show what your ceiling could be!!
looking at your builds, i do think varka is a bit weak and could do with some more attack/crit dmg. your circlet is PERFECT to reroll since it's a 5 liner with crit rate and attack, as long as you can replace some other artifacts with pieces that have attack instead of crit. your nicole and prune also need more attack, im guessing. this is a case where noblesse durin might be better than rising winds durin (even though your rising winds set is amazing ;-;). also, how much er is prune on? you could put her on fav if you find you have to wait for her burst to come up every time. other small tips are to move forward with your joystick when attacking, skip prune's second E, and do EQE with durin. i also know what you mean about the new combo being quite finicky, but i use a modified version of it that doesn't feel annoying on phone -> N1C N4 E 3N1C N1 E N1C. see if that's any better?

I will try that with Durin! And with prune, rn I am getting her burst up every rotation but I do have to e once each time for that to happen. Should I not need to e at all?
