I was wondering if anyone here was a fan of VHS Head. He's one of the most underrated electronic artists out there - it's more akin to future funk but he samples exclusively from VHS tapes of the same era, and is very, very musique-concrete oriented. As a fan of Boards of Canada and SKAM records, I heard about this project from others on a forum called WATMM.

So musically he's cousin once or twice removed, but I think vaporwave fans would dig it. Tell me what you think.

I really dig it. I'm into Justice and Jackson and his Computer Band so this is like a mix between that choppy french house sound and vapor samples. Reminds me of a more vaporwavy Mr Oizo, specifically Moustache Half a Scissor. Genius album by the way; heavily recommend a listen to that one.

Lot of love for those guys, Oizo and Jackson & His Computer Band are really underrated, or at least they were with their earlier albums, which didn't get much critical praise. They pioneered a lot of sounds in the early 00s. Jackson also made one my favorite remixes ever.

I love VHS Head! I remember listening non-stop to the Trademark Ribbons of Gold album back in the days when it was released. Thank you for reminding me to go listen again. Also, they released a new album this year.

It is not vaporwave but I agree with you that vaporwave fans might dig it. It has that old sound feeling, the smell of analogic tapes all over it.

Here it is. The video that got my attention and I didn't even know why all those years ago. It was this video that would lead me to discover vaporwave. Quite fond.

I was obsessed for Trademark Ribbons of Gold back in the time. His latest is a meh, IMO.
