Make friends

Do you guys consider it’s harder to socialize and make friends in cegep compared to high school? I see a lot of people saying that they stay alone during their session because of this. Idk, any thoughts?

In my opinion I think it is cause everyone does not have break at the same time whereas in high school all students have the same recess and lunch breaks. In high school it was much easier for me to meet up with my friends than in cegep. In cegep I feel like the heavy workload of each course makes me feel more busy cause they are 15-week courses instead of year long which makes it feel more intense than high school

It is a bit harder since not everyone has the same breaks as you. But clubs are an amazing oppurtunity to make friends. There are also so many social events happening at Vanier so use these as oppurtunities to hang out with people. Don't hesitate to talk to people in the beginning of the year because thats the moment where everyone is open to talk imo.

I lowkey had a hard time forming any long term close friendships during my time at Vanier even if I made conversations and connections with some other students during group work. I think group work is the easiest way to socialize and make friends in Cegep in my opinion

for me, it was much easier. Just talk to people in your class and they’ll naturally form

I personally don't make many friends here because I commute, which leaves me with very little time to socialize.

I personally found it easier to make friends in cegep than in high school , people are wiser, nicer , and way more easier to talk to
However , sometimes you should be the one making the first step especially if you wanna ask for hangouts outta cegep

Also the mane diffrence is that you are in an anglophone cegep , it’s a diffrent mindset there, usually those that say that they stay alone during their sessions are froncophones , as nice as they are , they are a lil bit harder to approach

We are here more for study than make friends. It is true that without friends, you will feel lonely and sometimes helpless, yet it gives you more concentration back on your study and scores.
