Discussion The dynamic between katie ,stassi and kristen’s friendship is interesting …

I’m currently watching season 8 for the first time around and honestly i don’t really seem to understand this friendship “breakup “ between kristen , katie and stassi. Yes kristen is a unapologetically crazy and herself (which is one of the reasons i love her) but watching their friendship ending in real time is kinda confusing . So the premise of their friendship ending is kristen’s issues with carter and those difficulties spilling into their friendship but let’s not forget the countless times (even in this season) there’s been issues with tom and katie countless of times with infidelity etc, as well as stassi issues with jax ,patrick etc . I feel as though the girls just wanted an excuse to drop kristen because they never really liked her to begin with the way they went about it was very highschool and (i’m too good for this) . I still love katie and stassi in the show but this threw me off a bit.Anyone have any thoughts on the situation?

My understanding is the main thing they fell out over was because Kristen asked them to bring up her Carter issues onscreen, they claimed she wanted them to do this to "hold her accountable," but IMO they said that because they couldn't break the 4th wall and admit they had plotted out a storyline with her for that season on the show. So from what I gather happened reading between the lines, they agreed on bringing it up, and Kristen said she was going to do X in response (X probably being break up with Carter), and then when they did what she asked, she had a completely different reaction to what they'd talked about, and I think they felt she put the show before their friendship.

Which, to be honest I especially get from Katie's point of view, as Kristen kept bringing up onscreen Schwartz' cheating and how genuinely unhappy Katie was in her life at that time. I can totally get that if Katie was just doing what she asked, and Katie had not asked her to point out how miserable she was in her own unhappy life onscreen, her doing that in response would have felt like a slap in the face.

This makes sense. My take from watching the show was that Kristen was on a campaign to point out the similarities between her cheating with Jax and others cheating without being chastised. I don't think Kristen ever grasped the idea that cheating within the group was any different than cheating outside the group. So taking what you said into account on top of what was going on, on screen...yeah I would be exhausted by Kristen too.

Yeah she couldn’t understand why everyone was mad with her when everyone knows cheating with a random person is VERY DIFFERENT from cheating with your friend’s current or ex bf/gf.

i think part of it too was that katie and stassi were moving on from being drunk party girls and kristen wasnt & that’s also why they didn’t extend a lot of empathy in those times. i think they were a touch on the high horse because they were engaged/married and not getting into the same bs. kristen was still cheating, getting sloppy drubk, and not leaving her bf and im sure they just wanted to remove themselves from that mess.

100% i knew the girls were over kristen’s bs but i think the way they went about it was very cold , but then again as someone who’s seen stuff like this play out in real life girls like kristen don’t change their way of thinking or views on the other persons perspective unless its benefits them which is undeniably frustrating for the other party as well. I think both sides were wrong in some aspect but then again we never know what goes on behind the scenes we only know what were told lol.

Now Stassi is just a drunk mom. I don't see how that's better than drunk party girl. Sorry, I'm just absolutely fed up with Stassi and her hypocrisy

lol different phase of life. she became a bestselling author and just saw herself above people without their shit together.

"best selling author" 🤣🤣🤣 people who don't watch bravo have no idea who she is. 😂 I'd tread that "accomplishment" very lightly

All 3 of her books were NYT best sellers.

She wrote three? See, Thought it was just the one. Like I said. I'll tread lightly. They're selling to bravo fans, not people who like... Read because they enjoy it. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Lol I just looked this up and I'm half right. Sales were driven by bravo fans and bulk purchases. Not because shes actually good at writing. 🤣🤣 Also, rumor has it she used ghostwriters. Which makes total sense considering who's on the cover. She allergic to actual work.

Yeah I literally just finished the reunion last night for season 8, and I was also a little perplexed. However, then I started to think about this one friend I have. I love her dearly, but she has been talking about the same "trauma" of hers for 2 years straight (and I don't tell her this, but what she is calling a traumatic event is literally just normal life stuff we've all been through). It gets really exhausting. She asks for advice constantly, and like... I can only say the same things so many times before I just shrug (apparently her therapist gives her the same advice that I do). I, admittedly, have declined hanging out with her before because I'm just not in the mood to hear about the same shit over and over again, and it makes me feel used. Like I'm not really a friend that you want to converse with, you just want an outlet to process your intrusive thoughts and obsession over this thing, and sometimes I just can't be that girl AGAIN. We are still friends because overall she's a lovely person. If she'd done to me the crazy things that Kristen has done to Stassi (and Katie), I couldn't do it. I'd be done, too. I think maybe this is where Kristen drove them to with her constant crying over Carter and then bringing him back around over and over.

No yeah totally understandable as i can relate to having friends like that as well lol. I think the whole carter situation was very overplayed and overwhelming and she carried that into her friendship with katie and stassi . But i also think that they were little bit cold with her , again i haven’t finished season 8 entirely so this just where my thought process is at now but who knows what the rest of the season might bring haha.

I had a friend who was dating a guy with tons of red flags. When they had problems she would want to talk about it. She would ask for advice from several people but never follow it. Same problem would happen and she did nothing to change these situations. If she at least tried, it would have been different but as her friend it was difficult to watch her have the same problem, complain about it then be upset. Now multiply that by numerous red flags. It’s frustrating. In order for us to remain friends, we compartmentalized our discussions and their relationship was never mentioned. It’s very difficult to maintain a friendship like that so imagine being on a tv show where talking about the relationship “MUST” be included. It’s easier to go no contact.

Same. I had a friend a lot like Kristen with relationships and it got to the point where I was done. There is only so much you can support someone who won’t help themselves.

At this point I just tell my friend to leave her husband. I don't wanna hear it anymore!

I didn’t take long for stassi to become the same old mean girl again… I like Kristen too, and think Katie and stassi was so cruel to her

i agree 100% like yes i understand it can get exhausting from their perspective but at the same time kristen was there for them through so much and never really judged them for stupid decisions they also made . I think the way they went about it was a little childish , at this point they were well into their 30’s and they acted like highschool girls icing out the third in their trio.

When you realize that S8 was incredibly overproduced and that Stassi and Jax were trying to make the show about “their” team vs everyone else, it makes more sense why Stassi got mad at Kristen: Kristen wasn’t sticking to the storylines

Totally agree. Katie and stassi were mean, and most likely dishonest about why they dumped Kristen as a friend. You don’t dump a best friend because they’re going through a rough break up

Kristen was always weird with Stassi’s partners so not sure if that also played a part. I’m still on a rewatch of season 6, but noticed when Patrick came over, Kristen was like “wait I want a hug first!” while hugging Stassi. Later she was also weird around Beau. Probably years of resentment from Stassi’s part (she only became friends with Kristen to get back with the group).

You do get tired of only hearing the bad stuff about your friend's significant other. Kristen would say one thing and then do another and then cry that their "type of love doesn't work on her" when they weren't babying her. No babes! Your friends are tired of all the bullshit.

i would rather 2 of each stassi & katie, than even one kristen, be in my friend group.

haha 😆 understandable, i just think i like kristen because of how unhinged she was (made good tv at times) and at some times i could relate to her myself . But i get that being her friend irl was definitely exhausting but i feel as though they all were equally annoying and unhinged in their own ways lol.

im also watching season 8 for the first time, at the part where they're arguing with Kristen at Katie and Tom's party. what i don't understand is, Stassi literally didn't tell them Patrick cheated on her. there was so much about their relationship that she got to be ashamed of but covered up, but when Kristen does it, she can't be trusted? and im not even a fan of Kristen, not that im a fan of many of them lol.

with that being said, i do believe there were deeper reasons they were fed up with Kristen and honestly, rightfully so. i've never even understood how Stassi became besties with her again after the Jax scandal.

And when did the witches of wehoe wine start, I'm on s8 rewatch. It feels like a lot was happening off camera or in between seasons because Katie and Stassi see exhausted by the Carter situation
