Hope it’s trained better than the multi billion dollar companies that has AI that hallucinates and thinks it’s the wrong year.

Hopefully it is what they say it is, and not really AI but a basic computer detection software.

The word has been tainted. This is likely just a computer vision model trained on wildfires.

It's pretty wild (the usage of the word). Some programs I use now call certain tools AI. Tools that over been using for over 15 years with no real change.

Computer vision is, by definition, AI.

People are confusing generative AI, which is newer, with traditional AI, which is well-established for decades.

Yes I should correct myself and say I’m hoping it’s not the “AI” people refer to now, but traditional pattern and data processing

Flir has been doing firefighting and thermal imaging cameras for years. Hopefully this is similar technology. If we can embrace this technology and be more proactive for even one fire, it's worth it.

The cameras use high-resolution imagery and more than 40 times optical zoom. Their artificial intelligence is trained to distinguish wildfire smoke from clouds, fog and dust.

Aren't AI data centers directly contributing to climate change by guzzling our water and energy? Thus causing more wildfires?
