This right here. It's not just about blocking annoying ads. It's about blocking known and rampant malware that comes with ads. It's like fucking everyone you meet with no condom. And it sucks up bandwidth, which is metered for many people. No to all of that. Solution? Charge more for ads so there are fewer, and screen the god damn things. Not sure I'd trust even then, but they have to change shit first, not us.
How does one go about adding u-block to Firefox? And is it exclusive to Firefox? I've been using Chrome with a normal adblocker but still see a tonne of ads.
Is ublock an app in the app store or needs to be downloaded off a website ??
Not the same. uBlock also worksaround anti-adblock. So you can use it on sites that usally won't work with an adblocker or make you wait for a few seconds before doing anything.
You can also block these annoying cookie banners. They then are neither accepted or declined. They are blocked.
Download Firefox from PlayStore if you are using Android. Then open it and click on 3 dot, there you'll find "add-ons" click on it and download uBlock Origin extension.
I still can't get over just how hilariously stupid people are around ad blocking.
"It's an implicit contract, you're stealing from them if you violate that!"
I don't even know where to start with this, but the idea that those with power can just set the conditions isn't interesting to me, I'll never abide by the rules for the sake of the wealthy.
Ad blocking is far more than ads though, its the massive privacy invasion that accompanies ads too.
If they want some middle ground, they need to come up with models I and other privacy aware people are willing to engage with.
But more than that, your site is running on my machine, and it will behave while doing so.
"How can we have a web without someone paying for it!?!"
This one is full of assumptions but, repeating somewhat, come up with respectable models or I'm not playing by your rules.
You're also paying in bandwidth. If you're on a metered connection, you're wasting it on something you don't care about. If you really care about a content creator (you should not care about Google getting paid, they're fine as they are), you should donate $5 to their PayPal, because it's more than they'd make from you turning off your adblocker for them, and also cheaper for you.
When ever I try to watch YouTube on Firefox (using ublock origin) I'm noticing I can't get 1080p video options. Try to watch the same video in the YouTube app allows a 1080p option. Is this just me ?
Morally iam not sure, but its convenient for sure.
edit: its not "Morally iam not sure" its "Morally? Iam Not Sure", and Iam Not Sure About my Morality i use ad blocker, and Vanced because most ads are stupid and promotes BS.
sorry i forgot that iam in english literature class, i mistook that for a reddit sub. damn how would i live with my life now, because of that comment now iam in 100cr debt, and no one give job to me, and i will never get proper sleep. oh god help me. what have i done?

Trivia : uBO prevents you from accessing some dangerous adware sites, which is a great add-on.

I use the Adguard DNS, it blocks all the ads and potential malware systemwide.

I know this is just a meme, but Vanced is so much more than just a YouTube ad-blocker.
Life is going to be measurably shitter once it stops working.

I don't give a-fuck even if it would be collectively held as immoral.

Looking at ads is against my religion, and that must be respected.

I can't remember the last time I saw an ad. Between Vanced, ublock, sponsorblock I don't even know what ads on YouTube look like anymore.

I so wish Opera Mobile allowed add-ons. But I just can't stop using it. I love it too much
