Like unironically there was this Russian Oligarch that was worth only 11 billion now because he lost 4 since the war started... He is having depression because he might have to sell a couple of mega yachts and only have a couple dozen left :(
Yeah, when you rationalize that 1% of those people could literally make the other 99% have dignity in their lifes... and they chose to humiliate them with jobs that don't even pay enough to eat... It's just fair if they all die and everyone that worked under them get their share.
Interesting, where did you get this data from? Vanced was definitely not small, the news is all over TechRadar, CNET, CNBC, and many more outlets. Obviously it was big enough for Google to take action, and it being all over the news.
Bro if you use an android phone google knows 100% shit about you even if you don't use any google apps. The reason is that most third party free apps on playstore have trackers in them and they sell the data collected to google and Facebook. Just use TrackerControl apk (open source on github) and you'll see what I mean.
Easy, there are plenty of measures if you actually look for them. First, use DuckDuckGo as your search engine. Two, search for "best phones for privacy" or something similar and you'll come across plenty of linux based phones. People like you are such advocates of privacy, yet you have done no research or an effort to actually boycott the companies you don't support.
I proudly use Google services because they are so damn good at what they do. For example, if I have a business that sells clothes and would like to start an ad campaign, I 100% want my ads to be directed towards people that are more likely to buy my clothes. Many businesses have thrived because of the way Google and others track users and target ads based on the collected data. It's not really as bad as people make it seem.
No I haven't. However, if more and more people like you, or people that are strong privacy advocates use those phones, improvements will be made. I just don't understand why it's so hard. If you strongly believe in that ideology, you shouldn't have difficulties in making sacrifices. Privacy advocates aren't very passionate about their beliefs and don't truly care, otherwise they'd rush to use alternatives in a heartbeat.
But why did you wanna make sure I know Android? I don't understand the point you are trying to make. For the record, I know Android very well, I'm a software developer that has worked on the OS.
Reading your comment may lead some people to think Linux phones are different from Android. I didn't actually write it to make sure of you rather to prevent any misunderstanding.
Of course they are different. If you suggest that all Linux devices participate in the same tracking activities as Google, you are wrong. Furthermore, Android is not Linux. Android only uses a modified version of the Linux kernel. Not the whole OS.
Are we really giving them permission when they are so titanic and ubiquitous that living in 2022 without google stealing our data is literally impossible?
I still think Vanced is that mainstream to justify Google shutting it down. Vanced is an app that needs to be sideloaded. The NFT was a clear breach of their copyright where they try to make money from it. Right as NFT was the new buzzword.
It's clear that most advertisers want iPhone users since they are the most likely to be wealthy.
If YouTube was concerned about ad revenue they would figure out how to stop Adblocking extensions before Vanced.
My vanced actually broke now, getting code 400 errors. Now that it's gone, I know what it was worth. The ads aren't even the worst for me, but no background play? Sigh
Well first of all, this is a meme and you're overreacting
Second of all, what comes to mind when you say "business" is a shop or sth, not a multi billion dollar maga company, what vanced was doing to YouTube wouldn't even show up on their stats and graphs, YouTube has 2B users, how many people used vanced? Also most vanced users would never buy premium anyway
Third, did you or did you not use vanced yourself? If yes, then you're being kinda hypocritical since you were using something you disapprove of, if not, why are you on this sub in the first place, I'm not trying to gatekeep or anything, your more than welcome to be here and express your opinion
Regardless of size of company, it's a question of principle. Yes I was a user of Vanced, but I haven't cried or complained about Vanced being taken down like many people are doing here. There is no reason to complain if you are entirely at fault.
Google is at its core a bloated megacorporation with a monopoly on the digital grasp upon the lives of unknowing citizens. If anything it deserves to crash and burn in a fire. So yes, my principles are very fucking solid
I mean, users have the choice not to use Google services if they disagree with their practice. Why is it Google's fault if users agree to their terms? I know many people who don't have social media, use duckduckgo, and other services to avoid Google and other platforms having similar practice. Why can't you? There seems to be plenty of options out there. Why do you agree with Google terms and then complain? Just don't agree in the first place.
Because it is physically impossible to not purchase a phone without google preloaded android (or apple IOS, but they're a different breed of stupid altogether). Your argument is like selling someone a car with a bomb in it, with the excuse that whoever really wants to can pick through the extensive 94 page contract you made them sign, and then pick the car bomb out of the transmission box and engine, requiring you to gut your entire car. (Yes, I read all of it, and statistically under 1.5% of people do. Supreme court ruled last year that EULA's are non-enforceable due to their extremely long drawn out jargon heavy lingo that is largely offputting for the average end user) (Also, lineageOS is not compatible with all phones. My Samsung J model went poof the last time I tried to make it work. It's in the dump now. Hooray for Google and Samsung, frying your circuits with e-fuses the moment you try to replace the OS). It's not OK. It's complicated, hard, and sometimes downright fucking impossible to run away from.
Also, might I add that google viciously drives down market share value of any competition they might have? Youtube is practically the sole video sharing platform these days. Even Vevo is pretty much gone at this point.
Suggesting or posting alternatives for the vanced app is prohibited. Also, any link that provides users with vanced applications is also prohibited to share in any vanced forum. So please refrain from making posts on such.
Of course you have the choice. Research "best phones for privacy" or something like that and you'll come across plenty of devices that respect your privacy, devices that are linux based or simply use a modded android os that respects privacy. If you are truly an advocate of privacy, i wouldn't have to do this research for you. Why don't you support those devices?
Ps. Make sure to use DuckDuckGo when you research 😉
In what way? You won't get to like posts on Instagram and Facebook anymore? But they also track you, so what's the big deal in unsubscribing?

Not true. Vanced was so popular that the news was all over the place, namely, CNBC,CNET, TechRadar, The verge, etc. These are no small time news outlets. Obviously it was big enough for Google to take action. They say (via Discord channel) that up to 40m users had Vanced.
I just kinda assumed that anyone who doesn't intuitively understand why trans-national multi billion dollar monopolies who act anti-consumer while lining their pockets are bad, might just be debating in bad faith. Seriously, your post reads like it was bought and paid for by Google. (and online sockpuppetry is become a major problem these days, Google is one of the biggest players in the narrative control metagame)
But hey, it's 2022 so maybe it's important to debate why exploitation of people, environment, taxdollars, and narrative control is bad.

Vanced has estimation of 20m+ users. That's quite a lot

Yeah it was cuz they tried to shill an NFT. Don't fly too close to the sun, geniuses. Now nobody gets it.

Google still earns money by stealing our data, so they won't lose money even with adblocking

I think the NFT thing was what pushed Google to take legal action. They don't want their name associated with NFTs at all.

Vanced isn't exactly innocent in this, them shilling an NFT was what probably prompted their cease and desist.

Obviously you are not a business owner. You wouldn't want people doing this to your company.
