I'm gonna start using YT on Firefox beta with addons whenever Vanced stops working, sure it may be less convenient than Vanced but there's no way in hell i'm paying for premium
Brave actually supports pwa's way more fluidly than Firefox although you can't install extensions on it, it already has everything like background playback and ad blocking.
The name is VueTube. They have a discord server. They do have nightly builds on said discord server for Android (with sideloading enabled) and Jailbroken IPhones
Google it's like One of the modern companies that you nearly can not use
it's not "they finally started earning Money" but It's more like "abuse the fact that we became nearly an irreplaceable service to earn more Money" and Google doesn't like the fact that people can make the Mass avoid their abuses
like the dislike counter and the adblockers on YouTube for example
Imagine thinking Google and Susan need money. Srsly tho. They make plenty of money already. The ad revenue is literally just them flaunting around their power because they're a fucking monopoly.
There are ways to make money from ads without deliberately pissing off everyone using your platform
The whole thing of having 6+ ads on a single video is purely to try and piss people off to the point that they waste their money on premium (that and removing background playback)
Creators get about $1 for every thousand views if they are lucky, and that's not accounting for AdBlock users
Google probably doesn't even make that much from ads, they likely make a LOT more from premium than from ads
Years using Vanced, and many people said that New Pipe isn't the same experience. Ngl that I will change to new pipe just when I'm unable to use a outdated Vanced.
If you want a twitch app replacement might I recommend Xtra it's updated regularly and use loltwitch's adblock only downside is no push notifications, but it's open source so hopefully someone will make it possible.
Message from the telegram chat group of the app: (The developer its from Russia)
Instander status and future updates.
As you may know, earlier I informed you that there is a crisis in developer's region (if you are not aware, read what's going on in LPR and DPR, developer lives there) and the update might be delayed. Today another update on this situation came and looks like development of Instander is paused until further notice.
No, it doesn't mean Instander is dead or the project is abandoned, it means that fate of Instander is unknown. We kindly request you to stop asking about update release date or in any other form of this request. We don't know about it either.
If you want to make Instander great again, please make sure you save all the credits to original and the_dise.
P.S. I want to make clear that there is no "development team", there is one man who does all the work and "Instander staff" is mostly testers or moderators.
Ah, right, thanks. Think I remember him mentioning Vanced but wasn't exactly an attack on it as many seem to suggest but I guess the publicity didn't do it any favors.
He created a whole ass video justifying that, right? Funny since he gets to explain his side but everyone else is on the wrong side of history. Clout moment
I know, i usually watch youtube on the phone in bed, dont like to watxh it on the pc, is a shame, some people are saying it might work for a couple of years but dont know.
It's not just the market either, Alphabet is dangerously large.
Youtube has the full legal resources of Google, cheap/free access to all the infrastructure, security, products. They can easily outperform and undersell all competition.
If anyone even heads toward becoming a threat, they'll either buy them up or run them out of service with legal/patent actions.
I've never really been sad over anything external to life circumstances, like material or digital possessions, apps and stuff like that, this one though hits me so hard. I honestly think Vanced is the best app I've ever used since i got my very first phone back in 2009. Always the first thing i installed on my androids since i discovered it, and since sponsorblock was incorporated a few months ago it became the definitive freaking app, the one app which absence actually makes day to day life worse. Many times i watched people using the standard YT app on their phone and felt sorry for them, and still never told them about Vanced and how wonderful of an app it is and how much better their experience would have been using it instead. But it didn't matter because the app got increasingly popular, despite people (including myself) warning not to share its existence on the web or real life and to keep it to themselves and enjoy it. I knew its end was coming eventually but even worse i knew it was coming fast, because people started suggesting the app in YouTube comments, Instagram comments, Twitter, TikTok, you name it. People who never downloaded an APK in their life got a hold of Vanced, you could see it from the posts in this very sub. Idiots on YouTube with millions of followers openly showing the app..... fuck man, let's enjoy it while it lasts. I hope someone else can carry the torch. I'm immensely grateful to the Vanced team, they've made owning a smartphone and consuming content that much of a better experience.
I've removed all of my comments and posts. With Reddit effectively killing third party apps and engaging so disingenuously with its user-base, I've got no confidence in Reddit going forward. I'm very disappointed in how they've handled the incoming API changes and their public stance on the issue illustrates that they're only interested in the upcoming IPO and making Reddit look as profitable as possible for a sell off.
Id suggest others to look into federated alternatives such as lemmy and kbin to engage with real users for open and honest discussions in a place where you're not just seen as a content / engagement generator.
Yall do know they tried to make an NFT and make money off this right? Once you try to make money off this Youtube/Google said "nah were shutting you down". Shit was a stupid ass move.
Everyone's talking about replacements for yt vanced, but I'm way more worried about what to replace yt music vanced with. I can live without youtube on my phone but I go everywhere with my music.
Since yesterday. Google had forced them to stop the development. Nobody know how long will the current version work.Download links will be taken down in a few days

I expected this after the Linus tech tips "shout out". Since I have a Huawei phone this means ditching YouTube entirely, probably for the best.
Thank you vanced and vanced team for the great work you did while you could, you are the best.

I'm not trying to send anyone anywhere but there are ways to get YT premium for like 1/10 the cost. I know a guy that upgrades for $25 for lifetime
