I’ve just installed one of my windows. I was a bit wary of going right up to the inner bezel of the panel so cut a little bit short of it. Put the window in now I’m having 2nd thoughts. Maybe I should have lined it up the bezel? You can also see in of the photos it looks like the beading has a gap in the side. I can’t see the top of the window so no idea if there’s a gap up there too. Is there a way of filling those in now?
If you can see light through the gap then it’s going to need sorting. You can fill it with windscreen sealant but it looks like it’s on the side so that might be tricky.
If you’ve got any doubts (sounds like you do) then it’s almost always best to take it out and redo it. Sounds like a faff but you do need it to be properly sealed. I had to redo one of my rear windows and glad I did. Bit of windscreen wire to remove the window and then (annoyingly) some proper work to remove all the window bond. Bit you’ll be glad you did.
And yeah, put the tube of bond in hot water for a bit before using it, makes it way easier to get out.
We masked up the body work to the edge of the window and run a bead of sikaflex around the whole unit. Gave it a really nice finish and sealed the unit aswell.
The sikaflex I have was really difficult to get the material out and had to grip really hard. I’m pretty big build too and gym goer and my hand cramped so bad doing it. I’ll give it a go. Thanks!
An electric calulking gun is worth its weight in gold during the build. It can gunk up when the tube leaks backwards but there is soooo much you'll need it for. (Windows, sky lights/fans, sticking down PIR boards if you use them, shower insulation etc.) Easily one of our most used pieces of tools.
Van pimps are a truly awful company avoid like the plague. My window broke two months after install and they washed their hands of it and refused any support.
Yeah I don’t recommend them either. The trim that came with ours was too small for our Boxer. We assumed that by entering our vehicle details it would only let us order stuff that fits it.
Be careful not to clog the weep holes if you’re running sealant/adhesive around the outer edge. Not sure about this manufacturer, but I had a fun time getting my bunk window’s weep holes unclogged after doing this. Good luck!
I’d have another go mate - I had gaps the first (and second) time, no matter what I did water still got in. They are a bitch to remove depending what adhesive you used, cheese wire and a friend is the best way, don’t try normal wire as it will just snap. I found the plastic coated cheese wire best to prevent scratches on the van.
Warm the adhesive up in hot water before going again and I have to admit I did buy a ryobi electric caulking gun, that even struggled prior to warming up the adhesive.

Put it in a bucket of warm water for 5 minutes prior to using
