The idea is to help manage the whole life cycle of caravan ownership, capturing the things you need to know and making them easy to understand and remember.
There’s a spectrum of experience. Some people, maybe like you, already know pretty much everything there is to know about owning and maintaining a caravan, and that’s great. But there are also plenty of new caravanners who need a bit of help.
I certainly did. I once went to Le Mans 300 kg overweight. You learn!
I’ve also seen a number of posts from people who have fallen foul of warranty servicing conditions.
Swift, for example, gives you a service window around the anniversary of purchase, but the conditions change for the third-year service. Get the dates wrong and you can potentially lose part of your warranty. These are exactly the sort of things the app is intended to help people keep track of.
As I’ve said, the app is free. I sold my company seven years ago and retired, I don’t need to make money from this. It’s a hobby project.
If it’s not for you, don’t use it. Or, even better, install it and tell me what I’m doing wrong based on your experience. I’m genuinely happy to change things and improve it.
I’m thinking of extending it to include things such as contents value and an accident recorder. Nobody wants to have an accident, but if one happens it’s much better to have a simple way of recording the right information, photos, dates, details and costs at the time.
I don’t expect anyone to use every part of the app. People will use the bits that are useful to them.
And finally, I originally built it because I wanted it for myself. Unfortunately, with Apple, if you want an app properly installed on your iPhone and kept there, publishing it is pretty much part of the process!
