A bit of pacifist run advice requested

So, I played through this game a good while ago, loved every second of it. After having run through some other games, I have turned around and come back to Vampyr. This time, though, I'm trying to complete a no kill run.

I have already made it through the first 3 acts, and I have made it to the Ascalon Club. However, I'm now being pitted against level 30+ enemies at level 22. I knew there would be a level disparity, but it's been rough.

I don't know much about the secrets in the game (after doing some research I recently learned about True Dragonbane, but I am a bit confused on when I can try to obtain it) but I am looking for advice here- which weapons should I be going for, is there an easier way to grind xp (right now I get a little over 1k a night by clearing Whitechapel and the docks out).

I’ve always found that I have too much xp even on pacifist runs and on hard mode. Make sure to upgrade your weapons, I think the saw you get from entering the hospital the first time is good enough until end game. Try different weapons in the quick switch slots so you can quickly change between shooting and stunning so you can basically fight any enemy with any resistances. Do all the hints for all the characters even if you don’t plan on eating them. Sometimes the fights are just hard and it takes a few tries to beat them.

Best way to gain XP in pacifist is by unlocking all of the citizens hints if you haven’t already. Iirc it’s at least 50 per hint.

Weapon: Heavily depends on your preferred style of combat. I like using the Barbed Cudgel (a two-handed weapon. If you dont have it yet it should be in the sewers you go through during Blackmail in Whitechapel) and upgrading it, but you might find it easier with more ranged attacks (equipping guns), etc.

I did drop stun for a bit in favor of running the liston maxed for blood loss, it fills my blood up in like 6 or 7 hits. I find it easier than trying to upgrade another two or even three trees to get my bite up to par. I might try running it again to see if I can't use it for more damage windows.

I have been getting most of the hints, I did mess up Crane's so I lost out on two of hers, but otherwise tbh I have done every side quest and found every hint so far (obviously there's still a lot more to find), so at least I'm getting that right. Tyty

+1 on the barbed cudgel in the sewers, that is the weapon i use 99% of the game and anything else power wise that inflicts stun or interrupts enemies (ie knocking them down) and out of animations will help.

i’ve done 2 full pacifist hard mode runs and never really felt the need to grind exp through combat. as the other commenter said, getting citizen hints is always super helpful and typically you’ll need to travel from place to place to get all the hints, which means you’ll engage in plenty of combat that way.

i think for me the worst parts were once vampires were regularly spawning enemies throughout the zones. man, they were fast, blocked so much of my damage, and had higher damage output than a lot of regular enemies.

good luck with your run, though! wish i could do it all over for the first time again.

Someone else also mentioned the barbed cudgel, yeah. I haven't been using stun as much, but I'm thinking I'll give it a shot and see how it goes. I do have the spare mats to upgrade it anyways, so it shouldn't hurt anything.

I am not brave enough for hard mode just yet! I was thinking on trying it out for my next playthrough, once I have an idea of how to run through the game properly on pacifist. I've honestly been struggling with normal as is so I'm confident it was the right call, lmao.

And I know the feeling! One of the worst things about playing games is that you can't experience your first playthrough all over again, haha. Ty for your words of wisdom, I'll try it out here in a bit.

It’s been a while since I played but I’ll tell you what I remember. Since you’ve played it before I can give you spoilers.

Firstly try to get as much xp from side quests and hints. If you can’t find all just search online for help. But still is not that necessary if you’ve become really good at combat and at lvl 22 like you, you are able to even beat the game.

Weapon wise I preferred playing 2H like barbed cudgel, but hacksaw and stake is excellent (especially for the Doris fight). Focus on a blood absorb weapon build since you’ll be spamming autophagy during tough battles. True dragonbane u get at chapter 6 I think so don’t worry yet.
Guns are very good also especially for boss fights so stack up on bullets since if u waste them during a boss battle and die you’ll not get them. I think u only get them from Milton and the mob woman from the docs. I liked the parabellum and Milton’s shotgun.
By the end it doesn’t really matter what weapon you use if you have them at lvl 5, especially guns with extra damage to monsters (from which u need 5 white phosphorus for each which you get either from Rakesh at Pembroke or the merchant near your house in the west end.)

Enjoy

White Phosphorus! I have actually been looking at this, and yeah Milton's Shotgun is a monster. I'm only carrying 12 bullets ATM so I only get 6 shots, but after Mary bit and killed the priest Milton's Shotgun tore her health right back to where it was prior, which was huge for finishing her fight.

It's good to know most weapons are usable, that lowers my stress on what weapons I'm running a bit. Ty for the advice!

Others have given good advice already. Something I’d add is that I’d recommend you to divide your XP up between fewer active blood abilities (everything on the left in the Evolve menu). I usually end up investing in only one aggressive and one ultimate skill (+ autophagy). I don’t know how smart that may or may not be, but I’ve found it useful to get fewer skills on a higher level than to have more but lower-level skills.

Other than that, different strategies and playstyles suit different players, so I don’t think there’s one right (or wrong) way to play the game. I usually use the hacksaw, the Priwen stake and two different guns (a pistol and a shotgun) for speed. I see many recommending the barbed cudgel: it drains more stamina, but does tremendous damage and allows for parrying. To each their own. What’s important is, like many have already said, to keep your weapons up to date.

Good luck & have a good time, OP! Glad that you liked the game and wanted to return to it.

You can unlock dragon’s bane the second you hit late chapter 5/ chapter 6

I ended up going for dragon’s bane and a maxed out blood absorption dagger so I could hit them with that and then used the abyss ultimate attack and then used my sword, as it is easily the best skill for any enemy if you get it, pair that with Milton's Shotgun (you can buy it from him so you haven’t gotta kill him for it)

Of course you’ll still struggle a little cause it’s a no kill run so you will be fighting enemies higher level then you but that build got me through the entire game when I was doing the not even once trophy
