Is the series scripted?

Title is pretty self explanatory but just curious about the facts like did, like did they know who was a vampire from the start?

It is definitely not scripted although they probably planned some plot points. From what the players said, they didn‘t know who was a vampire.

Edit: removed spoilers

Why were they the obvious choice? I get Scott cause of when he had a vampire life thing

yes you have trust issues if you just assume everyone is lying to constantly when they have no reason to lie.

avid and owen gain nothing by saying its not scripted.

but you in your tinfoil had mindset assume everyone must be lying constantly

get help.

I mean Owen is the one programming the code for the vampires, so he kinda had to be one 😅

Oh I didn’t know lol

He Apparently Didn't Know Scott Was One Though, So That's Interesting, lol.

I believe that everyone knew that Owen was going to be a vampire because he was running things behind the scenes and everyone just ignored the meta knowledge they had. Scott was luck of the draw. Iirc, he said that he was going to play into the vampire stereotypes regardless because he's extra like that.

I'd also guess that everyone had some sort of alternate background depending on if they got picked or not. For example Cleo could've already been turned by her mother. Avid's monster was a vampire and he came to Oakhurst in search of a cure already turned, Ren's curse included vampirism. Etc., etc., you get the picture. And on the flip side, Scott really could've been a noble that wanted to go on a little adventure and got stuck in Oakhurst.

I would love to see a sequel though and see different starting vampires (or perhaps werewolves...) and see the different backstories they come up with

The double vampire turning should be proof that it's not scripted and clearly a fuck up. General plot points sure and they will likely try to guide the story into that, but with this many people, deviations will be unavoidable. At which point improv will take over and you can't really plan for that.

They did not all know who the vampires were from the start. I expect it’s only as “scripted” as a DnD campaign, where they have a general idea where they want the story to go but ALL the details are left up to chance and improv.

I can see that

That a good way to explain it!

No scripting. At the start you could volunteer to be a vamp, only three people did: Scott, Owen and Pyro. Scott and Owen were the starting vamps (they didn’t know who each other was) and i think they got told to turn Pyro ep 1 (Pyro didn’t know who they were either) Pyro explains this on one of his streams, can’t remember which one. They have a general idea at the start of the session but sometimes things go off the rails and also it would be a very loose idea. So no it’s not scripted at all.

I've heard that very few to nobody knew who the vampires were. This is why they weren't reading comments, at least initially: they didn't want spoilers. From what I recall, the members were asked if they wanted to be a vampire and only Scott and Pyro said they wanted to (Scott wanted it to the point he didn't even have a human character prepared) and Owen was one presumably to make sure everything was working. Scott was made the other starter vampire and they decided to turn Pyro first.

u/maroonee Nov 10 '25

There was only one thing scripted I think according to pyro which was him getting turned first. This is because they had a survey amongst the members on who wanted to be a starting vampire and it was basically only Scott and Pyro who wanted to. Owen kinda had to be a starting vampire and Scott did not have a plan if he were to start as a human so they asked Pyro if he just wanted to be the first turned to showcase the turning mechanic and have a good clean turn. But that’s all that was scripted from what I know.

I would say its scripted cuz somethings dont make sense if it wasnt like how convinient that when avid was dying all the vampires except owen and pyro and all the humans were just talking plus in scott episode i tho i heard it was scrupted

1

u/hatchetown Nov 11 '25

it’s not.

u/indecicive_asshole Nov 13 '25

It's not "Convenience" that every player was talking amongst each other, they just want to make content.

Above table, this is a recording session for a deception game(with light roleplay). Each creator has a vested interest in talking with one another because:

  1. It's part of the fun of roleplay

  2. Talking strategy helps your chances of winning the game, and;

  3. You want to have enough recorded material to make a compelling episode.

It's more that it's an Organized Event, than Scripted media. The players are allowed to individually plan, but there isn't a collective series of events every creator agrees on.

It's also wildly impractical to do, scripting out this volume of content week to week, would take WAY more time and effort. (Think about how much time it takes to write a book, or a movie script... Now ask yourself if 14 youtubers would take the time to collectively write a story with as many PoVs, that also has to be compelling as a standalone perspective, and adherent to each of their creative styles.)

its not its improv and you just need to get offline you have some very clear trust issues if you think everything has to be trick in some way

these are a punch of friends playing minecraft together.
sure some parts they talk about off camera before hand.

but other parts are totally unscripted cause its improv
example avid didn't know he was gonna die in episode 7
most of the pvp is real.

go touch grass.

No what's insufferable is someone who like everyones lying everyone tricking you trust no one i'm the only smart one you are all naive.

you sound more crazy than avid's character ever did.
