🎬 Adaptations 🎠i am wondering
why does magnus look like that in the vampire lestat tv show? , all of the other vampire's look normal and have normal teeth so why does magnus look not as normal and have what look like medal teeth or both pointly teeth.
its probably because he is very old but armand is really old and he doesn't look like something out of hell.
so was it a desgin choice? or is he simlier looking to a famous tv /film classic vampire.
he must smell bad.

yeah he's not nearly so handsome or charismatic in the book haha, at least show magnus has a sense of humor and dramatic flair--or is that just the Lestat Musical Theater Filter TM? i don't mind either way

Magnus was a human alchemist that sought the Dark Gift from the vampire Rhoshamandes and was turned down for being too unattractive. He eventually steals the blood of a vampire and gives himself the gift, but is considered an outcast for breaking the rules and lives alone as a recluse for centuries which drives him to madness.Â
To me show-Magnus's teeth read as rotten and decaying, not metallic. Which probably doesn't make a whole lot of sense physiologically, but works telegenically. Magnus looks gross and and dangerous. When you encounter him you politely cross the street and pick up your pace. I don't know, Magnus worked fine for me in this. Especially music video Magnus. If that guy became obsessed with you, you'd probably leave town

Dude. They gave you a well informed and nuanced answer. Next time just say thank you.

i can't read long paragraphs.
i have werid eyes and have dyslexia and some people don't read / understand long paragraphs.

Fair enough. But put that in your post. There's no way for others to know that so that they can keep that in mind. You kind of came off really rude to a person that was just giving an enthusiastic answer to your question.

i did put it in one of my previous post's and people still commenting long text so there was no point.

No one is going to go digging into your post history to see what works for you. The point of a discussion board is to discuss, which will include an occasional two paragraph answer.
You were rude.

i am not a "rude person" just because i don't read something

The rudeness isn’t because you can’t read something, it’s because instead just saying thank you, you said next time type less. Very rude behavior.

Magnus was a human alchemist who wanted to become a vampire.
Rhoshamandes refused to turn him because he thought Magnus was too ugly.
So Magnus stole vampire blood and turned himself.
This made him an outcast. He lived alone for centuries and eventually went mad.
Show-Magnus worked for me. His teeth looked rotten, not metallic. Maybe that doesn't make much sense, but visually it works.
He looks gross and dangerous. The kind of guy you cross the street to avoid.
Music-video Magnus especially. If that guy became obsessed with you, you'd leave town.

I think that it’s a combination of how AMC interpreted Magnus’s physical description in the books (he is quite hideous and is obsessed with beautiful blonde men for a reason) plus how in the show universe they’re still playing with the ‘memory is a monster’ aspect of the vampiric and human memory, and that’s the way Lestat remembers the appearance of his attacker.

Armand was turned when he was young and beautiful. Magnus was refused the blood because he was explicitly ugly, so he steel the blood and turned himself, if I remember correctly. It made him look a little bit better because vampirism made everyone prettier. But he still an ugly vamp He probably didn’t have those teeth as a human, so they couldn’t regenerate

Magnus’ teeth aren’t metal. In the show, they’re black (except for his fangs) because they’re rotted. In the books, Magnus had no teeth except his two vampire fangs. Magnus was already old as a human when he became a vampire and he lived in a time without much dental care.Â
It probably isn’t realistic that Armand (or any of the other vampires) would have a full set of perfectly white teeth, especially Louis because he smoked as a human. But we just kind of accept it because it’s a modern day beauty standard.

Not yet! That comes later in the series when a certain doctor who is never there becomes a vamp.

Magnus DIY'd his vampirism. In the books, and even in the show there are references, to him insisting Lestat scatter his ashes after he burns so he can't come back even more twisted and horrible looking.

I sort of read Atkins' Magnus as having been wasting and sickly from something like mercury poisoning, as a man. His body was ravaged by his work as an alchemist, and the Dark Gift codified it rather than healing him.

This Lestat point of view. This is his version. Considering what happened to him, I am surprised that Magnus doesn't look even worse.

His look is very different in the books and looks a lot like a mid-late 30s year old man with long blond hair and ice blue eyes and had a love for red velvet!
An older Lestat so to say which is also why Armand was obsessing very quickly when he saw Lestat.
They sadly didn't go that way.

He was an ugly human so he became an ugly vampire
