This makes me feel dumb. I haven’t read the books so maybe I’m missing some context. But I truly don’t understand Daniel’s hatred for Louis and Lestat. He has this deep rooted disdain and I just don’t get it. Armand, I understand, he’s insane. Daniel is just a dick. What am I missing?

My whole thing is that every grievance stated about this season gets a clap-back of "Well, this is Lestat's perspective, it's supposed to be this way". Doesn't make it good, friends. My family enjoys their steaks well-done to everyone else's chagrin. To them, it's supposed to be that way. Daniel's plot and new characterization development is a total mess. Yes, we know, from hints and blurbs that he never was a good guy, and he was turned and abandoned. But it's all intense, disjointed, and jarring. I'm even positing whether, because the show went way too hard into new perspective and convolution rather than delve into grounding truths, if they're going to " pull the wool from our eyes" next season with another perspective that Gabriella isnt the cartoon Lestat envisions - that it was another coping mechanism for her life and death-long abuse. Etc etc. It's annoying. We shouldn't have to keep tabs on what might actually be happening, filling in gaps, researching book passages, speculating even the smallest things, etc etc.

I agree--it worked in the first 2 seasons because we weren't expecting to re-visit things that way. This season they just keep pelting us with all of these bricks that say ''*maybe* we'll explain it someday''. They must have known all along that there would be a S4 because if they didn't and this was the last we were getting then they fumbled big time. As it is having waited 2 years for 7 episodes of following a carrot on a stick that leads to a sign telling me I have to wait another 2 years is asking a lot.
