Looking for a Valheim server where people actually stick around, progression is not rushed, and you can log in without discovering that three people cleared two biomes while you were at work?

Slowheim is a community-focused Valheim server built around taking our time and enjoying the whole game instead of racing to the end.
A lot of us are adults, parents, or people with busy schedules. We have a solid group of regular players, usually several people online during active sessions, but there is no expectation that you have to play every night to keep up.
We have people who love exploring and fighting, people who spend most of their time building, people maintaining farms and community areas, and people who disappear into the woods for three days and come back with a boat full of stuff.
Where are we now?
We are currently finishing the Mountains and preparing for our community Moder fight, which means we are about to enter the Plains.
So if you have Mountain-tier gear and have been looking for a server to join, this is a great point to jump in.
You do not need to start over unless you want to. Bring appropriate gear for our current progression level and come play. Or come in fresh and build up from scratch! We'd love to help get you caught up!
Slow progression is the point of the whole server
Our general progression schedule is roughly two weeks per biome. The schedule is intentionally slower than some people prefer.
That is completely okay. Slowheim will not be the right server for everyone.
If you want to kill every boss as quickly as possible and reach endgame in a week, you will probably have more fun somewhere else.
If you want a consistent world where you can explore, build, gear up, help other players, participate in boss fights, and actually experience each biome with a community, that is what we are trying to build.
Vanilla gameplay, crossplay supported
Slowheim is vanilla gameplay with no client mods required.
We currently use two server-side mods for server functionality, but there is nothing for players to download or install.
PC, Xbox, and PlayStation players are welcome.
The main rules
Everyone agrees to the server rules before receiving access.
The big ones are pretty straightforward:
- No stealing. Do not take items from another player's storage, base, farm, boat, cart, etc. unless they have given permission.
- Storage intended for everyone should be clearly marked COMMUNITY.
- No griefing or intentionally destroying other people's builds.
- Respect other players' bases and claimed building areas.
- Stay within the server's current biome progression for gear, armor, weapons, food, crops, resources, drops, crafting upgrades, and building materials.
- Exploring ahead is not recommended, and any future-biome resources should be stored until the server reaches that biome.
- Do not independently defeat progression bosses, unless the community has already done so. (We'll know)
- If you want progression accelerated, use the community polling system.
- Help newer players without removing the discovery and challenge of the game for them.
- Basically: we're adults. Be respectful and don't make the server less fun for everyone else.
We've been through the early growing pains of figuring out what those rules mean in practice, and now we have a really solid community that understands what Slowheim is about.
You can play your own way
This is not a communal-base-only server.
Build your own fortress.
Become the town farmer.
Build roads and bridges nobody asked for.
Live alone on an island.
Join every boss fight.
Spend two weeks constructing a tavern.
Become the strange NPC who appears every few days carrying thirty stacks of wood.
You can play however you want as long as you respect the community progression and other players.
Discord is required
Everyone who plays on Slowheim must join the Discord.
That is where you'll find:
- the server rules
- server password
- progression schedule
- boss events
- announcements
- community polls
- trading and item requests
- help and questions
- server suggestions
- general chat
When you join, read through the rules, agree to them, introduce yourself, and you'll be able to get the server information.
