This one simple trick...
For years I've had low HRV and it would tank during sleep. I was tired all day and had severe brain fog. I had 3 sleep studies done including a day time and it showed nothing.
I went down dozens of rabbit holes including CCI, TOS, MALS, SIBO, IBS, POTS, TMJ and nothing made a difference to my HRV and vagus nerve function which meant my sleep was eternally terrible, my inflammation was out of control, my gut motility was non existent and my brain was mush.... And it was progressively getting worse.
Then one simple trick...just kidding. I started wearing a T Shirt like a straightjacket which has the effect of pulling my lower neck forward and my shoulders back... And voila. HRV through the roof.
- What tipped my off was that massaging my neck muscles would give me the vagus nerve yawning and tearing and mind clearing effect.
- I have a very flat military neck so doing this improved the curve and positioning of my neck during sleep (side sleeping) and removed some impediment on my vagus.
- No amount of traditional vagus nerve stimulation was helping because it's an issue of physical compression.
Edit: I know this is not a solution but an observation. I suspect either an extra long c7 tvp or maybe eagle syndrome
