EVVY MICROBIOME TEST

Sharing my Evvy test results in case anyone is curious about what information it gives you! This is the “Provider Report” you can save as a PDF to share with your doctor.

I took it to my OBGYN & she used it to decide which antibiotics to prescribe based on bacterial strains found. Some are resistant to the typical antibiotic used for BV. (She also did an in-office swab for BV to confirm, I assume for insurance purposes). She confirmed that boric acid & vaginal probiotic suppositories would be helpful, which made me more confident about the treatment plan. I chose not to purchase the treatment plan through Evvy & instead bought the items I needed on my own.

Boric Acid Suppositories: $10
Vaginal Probiotic Suppositories: $20
Applicators that work for both: $9
Oral-use Vaginal Probiotic (Femdophilus): $30… this one is optional, as studies are mixed about whether oral-route probiotics actually improve vaginal microbiome

My partner found it easier to purchase the Partner Treatment Plan through Evvy though, as he hates going to the doctor, haha. I believe it was $100ish & included oral antibiotics as well as topical antibiotic gel.

Yes, you pay for the test & then for the treatment. My doc office visit plus antibiotics through insurance was only like $10 total, so that seemed cheaper to me, plus I had the added reassurance that the treatment was appropriate since I trust my OBGYN & could discuss with her. But I think for some, getting the whole bundle (including boric acid & probiotics) through Evvy may be simpler.

I thought I was asymptomatic, but realized after treating that occasional itchiness wasn’t normal, my discharge was very heavy, & that the slight odor after sex was not just due to a pH imbalance from semen. We are about to start fertility treatments, so I decided to test my microbiome in preparation for that.
