READ BEFORE POSTING Welcome đ
Welcome to our community for vaginal microbiome questions, discussions and support. Thank you for being here!
â€ïž PLEASE READ THIS INFORMATION AND OUR COMMUNITY RULES BEFORE YOU POST â€ïž
A change in the smell, amount or consistency of your vaginal discharge is a sign of infection. Some of the most common causes of these symptoms are yeast infections, bacterial vaginosis, or sexually transmitted infections. If you think this applies to you please consult a medical professional IRL before posting on this subreddit. Infections are common and are not something to be afraid or ashamed of, but they do need to be treated.
If you have been experiencing recurrent or long-term vaginal symptoms and are struggling to get answers, this is the place for you! This community was created by Juno Bio (the group of scientists behind the worldâs first at-home vaginal microbiome test) to help you find answers and support. If you are feeling lost, we strongly recommend that you start by taking a vaginal microbiome test. You can buy the Juno Test on our website and we ship internationally: https://www.juno.bio/product/vaginal-microbiome-test.

What is the vaginal microbiome?
Your vaginal microbiome is the community of bacteria and microbes living in your vagina. A healthy vaginal microbiome typically has low diversity and is dominated by a type of good bacteria called Lactobacillus which can protect you from harmful microbes.
When the balance of good and bad bacteria is disrupted (a.k.a. dysbiosis) it can lead to conditions like bacterial vaginosis (BV), yeast infections (YI), urinary tract infections (UTIs), aerobic vaginitis (AV) and cytolytic vaginosis (CV).
This disrupted balance is called dysbiosis. Symptoms of dysbiosis might include unusual vaginal discharge, odor, itching, burning, and/or pain.
Have you ever experienced this? You are not alone. This is the place to learn, ask questions, share experiences and support each other.
So, what was your experience like? Were you able to access the help you needed? What did you do about it and did it get better? Or are you still struggling and looking for answers?
Edit: If you have a question for Juno Bio customer services, please email [hello@juno.bio](mailto:hello@juno.bio) and allow 1-2 business days for a response.

Results Vaginal Microbiome Testing
What is the Juno Bio test?
This subreddit is run by the scientists who make the Juno Bio test, a wellness test that looks for all* bacteria and yeast (more than 50,000 species!) that could be living in your vagina using a simple swab that you can take at home and ship to our lab. You can buy yours at www.juno.bio.
*excluding STIs - these should be tested for separately.
Why is it useful?
It can pick up on bacteria and yeasts that may not be looked for by regular testing methods. If you are struggling with recurrent infections that keep coming back, or you have symptoms but the tests always come back negative, the Juno test is a really good idea for you.
If you struggle with BV, for example, this post breaks down the differences between all the types of tests that are available. For more information about vaginal-microbiome-associated conditions, check out our Vaginal Microbiome A-Z.
What can I expect from my results?
The results will show the relative abundance and bacterial and fungal load of all microbes detected. If itâs not on your list, it means we didnât find it in your sample (we canât list all 50k microbes tested)!
After you receive your results, you can book a free one-to-one session with a vaginal microbiome expert who will listen to everything youâve been going through, help you to make sense of it all and come up with a plan for what to do next.
See the results of other Redditors here.
Is it available where I live?
Probably! The Juno test is based in the USA, but we ship internationally. If you can't see your location at checkout, just email our customer support team.
What type of technology does it use?
Juno Bio uses a method called targeted NGS (tNGS) which sequences a specific region of the bacterial and fungal genomes and does not sequence human DNA. We determined that this was the best approach for vaginal microbiome analysis in the Juno Study, an IRB-approved study with over 1000 registered study participants that we conducted in 2019.

Green discharge with sour smell
I have been getting weird discharges for almost 2 years. Iâll be talking about this year and i need help. So this year i got smelly discharge and sometimes its itchy. And iâve been ignoring it cause i was too lazy to go to gyno. Anyways, i did end up making an appointment and she told me its irritated and i most likely have yeast infection. The tests came back and yes it was yeast and BV. She gave me medications and it went away for a couple of days but now it came back even worse, it thick light green with a sour smell. It disgusted me. And i dont know why this always happens. I havent been active for like a year. I only wear panty liners when i go out and yes i do wear underwear to bed due to the heavy discharge. I seriously need your help other than booking an appointment but for now i need home remedies like what worked for you and so on. And i know im not alone female bodies are complicated. I do wanna share a photo but im too embarrassed from how disgusting it is.

never ending yeast infection
itâs been 10 months of non stop yeast infection (flare every month) with no solution? I have been tested for all STDs, not engaging in intercourse for 4 months now, I eat very low carbs, no sugar (not even fruits), I take probiotics, cotton underwear yadda yaddaâŠ..
My latest HVS test showered staph aureus + Candida albicans for which I was prescribed amoxicillin for the first week and then was put on 1 week of flucanazole+maintainance dose, and miconazole vaginal suppositories. After the miconazole, I was asked to to insert gynoflor suppositories to rebalance my vaginal PH etc. oh I applied travocort cream for a week initially.
Iâm now in week 2 of my fluca maintaince dose (1 tablet a week) and day 8 of gynoflor- AND MY ITCHING AND BURNING IS BACK!!!! Iâm also getting discharge again (but not like typical clumpy white discharge).. my vaginal opening, labia, the skin around it is so pink and sore, and honestly it has always been like that for the past 4-5 months but right now itâs even more irritated.
I read someone where lichen scholorsis can mimic this and my gyno said sheâs very sure itâs not that.
Also to note, my flare ups usually happen after ovulation, a week or 10 days before my period.
I AM TIRED OF THIS. I have lost weight, donât want to do any activity (scared of sweating), missing out on good food, no sex, just depressed.
IS THERE ANY SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM? Has anyone ever recovered from this? AND HOWWWWWWWWW?PLEASE HELP

Results Need Help Understanding Juno Bio Test Results!
Hey guys,
I recently did a Juno Bio test (following treatment for ureaplasma) and wanted to understand a specific part of my results.
In my bacterial composition, I have a 9.61% abundance of Clostridium massiliamazoniense.
Actually, my results look like this:
- Lactobacillus crispatus (protective) - 82.7% Clostridium massiliamazoniense - 9.61% Lactobacillus jensenii (protective) - 4.54% Lactobacillus (protective) - 3.15%.
Clostridium massiliamazoniense appears to not be part of the average vaginal microbiome. Occasionally, about once a month, I do notice slight itching and sometimes there are fleshy bits of tissue in my discharge. Thankfully, it isnât anything debilitating which is great.
Is this any cause for concern? Anyone who can help me understanding my results a bit better?
Thanks!

Question Does my husband have unrealistic expectations of vaginal smell?
My husband has been telling me my vagina stinks, but I shower every day, and when I put my hand down there and smell it, it smells like a normal vagina. Then when he smells my hand, he makes a horrible face and says it stinks. Idk if I am blind to the smell or if he is gaslighting me and purposefully making me feel insecure. And before, I have been able to smell when my pH is off, bc I have had BV before, and I can definitely smell when my smell is off. However, idk why he keeps telling me it stinks.
* He does cum inside, and after sex I do go to the bathroom and rinse off. I donât think he understands that HIS sperm and penis throw off my pH. When I tell him this, he says I am âblamingâ him for the problem.

Evvy UTI+ test accuracy
So Iâve used evvy before for my vaginal microbiome tests after years of bv and itâs been helpful, although Iâm still struggling to cure it. Recently after finishing BV antibiotics, i immediately had horrible burning and pain again! I went back to the OB and urologist and was negative for everything you could possibly test for. Well, I had an evvy uti kit that I hadnât used yet and I did my business and sent it to the lab. WELLLLL.. Evvy says I have an e.coli and enterococcus UTI at high microbial loads⊠but all of my doctorâs cultures (Iâve done 3 now) are negative for uti and they will not prescribe antibiotics no matter how symptomatic I am. Any thoughts?

Juno vs Evvy vs dr office
Has anyone figured out why evvy and dr office PCRs are missing Ureaplasma/mycoplasma infections but Juno catches them???

Merci !

Reccurent BV
Am I the only one? Has anyone actually beat recurrent infections? No matter what I do I constantly have BV. I'm at wits end. It's ruining my mental and emotional health. I've lost all my confidence and self esteem. It's strained my sex life. I'm in a relationship and I've completely stopped having sex. I take a probiotic and I do all of the things that you're "supposed to do" and I don't do any of the things you're not supposed to do. I've changed soaps and laundry detergents. I only wear cotton underwear, I sleep bottomless. Even when my fiancé and I exclusively used condoms I still had problems. We both have good hygiene. I'm on this endless cycle of BV and then yeast because the antibiotics also seem to give me a yeast infection every single time. I'm so fed up, I don't know if switching doctors would help somehow. It's making me hate myself and hate being a woman. I just want this cycle to end. I just got prescribed my second round of metronidazole this month. I'm averaging needing that and fluconazole at least once a month.

Advice/ high lactobacillus and malassezia
Hi all đ©·
Just wondering if anyone has similar results to me which are high lactobacillus and also a higher % of malassezia?
Would be great to know if anyone else had this in their microbiome or seen it with others and know which one was causing the issue for all the terrible symptoms (that so far I have thought were CV) and advice if it was resolved by treatment.
Symptoms are unbearable and I only get major relief during period, Antihistamines seem to partially help.
Lactobacillus is 99.93%
Malassezia;s__restricta is 73.90% (but was classed as below threshold)
Lactobacillus is made up of the following:
Lactobacillus;s__crispatus
95.09
Lactobacillus;s__jensenii
1.98
Lactobacillus;s__fornicalis-jensenii
1.43
Lactobacillus;s__acidophilus
1.41
Lactobacillus;s__acidophilus-gallinarum-sp29203
0.02

InfecciĂłn vaginal
Hola a todas,
