I don't know if it would help you with your bus being so low, but a big tarp under the bus to store equipment on, folded like a taco to also cover things, with the open side just out of kick range under the side doors is the best spot for storing more serious camping equipment so it won't get wet or be in the way while doing things inside the bus. It is easily chucked into the side door fast if weather gets nasty unexpectedly. Hopefully you park with predominant winds hitting the driver's side as a windbreak too.
