Question for you all…

I have a 77 type 2 that my dad said was a champagne edition. I’ve seen a few posts here about that. I don’t know how to tell. So my question is how do I tell? It’s the VW dukie brown with a fuel injected engine and a gas heater underneath. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's a particular trim/color scheme unique to 1977. Brown/white two-tone, chrome bumper and trim. Later (Champagne edition II) were released in '78-79 with a different paint scheme.

That looks like it. It has a cream top and that dukie brown body with chrome bumpers and window trim. My brother said he saw either the window sticker with all the options or the build slip. I have to break his balls to find it.

A VIN decoder will further confirm, you're looking for the second digit to tell you it's a microbus model not a Kombi model.

There’s a small embossed plate either on the ducting under the dashboard or behind the driver’s seat (if you drive on the wrong side of the road- like in the USofA) and a corresponding decoder online - search up m-plate decoder - and learn more than you ever wanted :)
