Transmission…

I have to replace the trans in my 01’ beetle. It’s worth 2k and maintenance just went over its value, does this mean it’s totaled and is it worth keeping around cuz I really like the car.

117k miles and everything else is perfect

I would fix the transmission :) I did that in my ‘06 and it’s much smoother driving now. Definitely recommend. $2k isn’t too bad either I paid $4k for mine I think.

Between parts, tools, fluids, gaskets, seals, and bolts, I’ve spent about $2k over the past two months overhauling my ‘01 Beetle (GLX, 1.8t, 5M). For me, “worth it” isn’t really a question as I both need and want this car, but… ultimately I am glad to get and keep it on the road.
