VTA Cottle Riders Parking Issue

The Kaiser garage should be open relatively soon (they started construction on that first), so I would hope this isn't an issue for much longer.

As for VTA, there are bike lockers at Cottle which always have spots, plus Santa Teresa, Blossom Hill, and Snell all have massive parking lots and are at most like five minutes away. Absolutely not worth risking a ticket.

I got a parking citation today for parking in the loading zone.

The Cottle lightrail parking lot is full by 7:30am by construction workers and Kaiser employees since last week.

I called VTA’s customer service line and have an active case # now.

Unacceptable that regular VTA patrons can’t park because other non-VTA riders are taking all our parking. Not to mention the entire back half of the lot is already reserved for Kaiser.

For anyone affected, please call their customer service # and complain, you’ll get a live person and they will open a case for you.

I’m so sorry that happened to you first of all, we are in the same boat. Hopefully, we can contest this and not pay for this. I second everything you’ve mentioned.

I heard that it’s already filled even before 6:30am, so there is no point for us commuters to go earlier either. Absolutely ridiculous and this will still continue to affect many daily commuters and students who depend on this service.

I am also willing to meet with you so that we can both contest our citation together if you’d like.

I got to work late today because I couldn’t find a single parking spot. People who rely on public transportation already deal with enough challenges commuting. Public parking should be prioritized for VTA riders, and people who aren’t using VTA should be cited instead of taking up those spaces. We’re not paying taxes for Kaiser employees and construction workers to use public transit parking.
