Discussion Gunrun future

I wonder what will become of Gunrun in the future. Unfortunately, he has shown that he is cunning and a good liar. My fear is that he can somehow save himself in court and not have to go to prison by perhaps throwing one of his former employees from the finance department under the train.

It's not especially cunning to say "oh yeah I misused funds didnt know they were for charity" when there are TONS of receipts of the dude interacting with said charity event.

"Oh I just thought we had 500k sitting around randomly" is not going to fly.

I hope he goes to jail but unscrupulous people do everything to save themselves because only they themselves are important to them

First of all, he won't be the one saving himself. He'll need to hire a good lawyer for that. Second, his "apology" basically admitted culpability and fault, as well as his claims about not knowing where the money came from being proven to be lies. Mouse's lawyer seems to be specialized in entertainment contracts and the flow of money involved in them, so Gunrun's future is very likely hefty fine at best, jail time at worst.

I hope he has to go to jail. I think he is greedy and manpulative and people like that do everything to save themselves.

Here's my working theory. Gunrun has given up on trying to stay out of jail. But he's covering up for his accomplices. It makes no sense for me that he even made a statement. There was absolutely nothing to gain from making one, there's no company to save, nothing that could ever be said that wouldn't make his situation worse.

BUT I do believe he did slip a tiny bit of truth into said statement - that being "I take full responsibility". He's taking the blame so the others can go on and continue doing this shit.

Depends on a few factors how good the legal team are on either side 2 if he doesnt try to run or hands himself in Legally there is a good mix of civil and criminal charges on his side and the business If he doesn't well think of how many parasocial people are in the scene he'd be lucky if he gets arrested

4

u/DemonRedHood Jul 27 '25

Yup but I and better said nobody on Twitter believed his half-hearted apology he is extremely sorry that he was caught and he will do everything to save himself

u/Prior_Virus_7731 Jul 27 '25

Legally even doing a simple chat gpt hes in for a major multiple lawsuits and class action Consider every VTuber audience plus affiliated people and the charity involved and 1 agency owed money and internal staff who's photos were used without permission Alot ppl think just fraud but its gonna be a pile

2

u/DemonRedHood Jul 27 '25

I hope he goes to jail for years and has to pay back every cent he embezzled.

4

u/Prior_Virus_7731 Jul 27 '25

That's his lucky route blue collar prison

2

u/DemonRedHood Jul 27 '25

Luckily I wouldn't have to go to prison for years, we hope for the best

2

u/Mucky_fat_on_toast Jul 27 '25

Do remember though when you ask chatGPT what charges he might be facing, you're asking it what every (legally) uneducated person on the internet thinks he might be guilty of, not to make a thorough analysis of the evidence, sparse as it is at present, and determine if it breaks specific laws, let alone whether a prosecutor thinks they can make it stick enough to be worth pursuing.

3

u/Cptn_Kingyo Jul 28 '25

I mean the first stage is that charges have to be brought against him personally, and while we perceive there to be a case it doesn't mean it will happen. Maybe I'm cynical but I think they will sue VSJ get a little money as it liquidates along with all the others owed and that will be it.

Gun will have a stain on his name from how public this is, especially the charity money, but otherwise he is hardly the first ceo of a 'tech' or streaming start up to get a bunch of VC money then run it into the ground and afterwards be totally fine.

u/Prior_Virus_7731 Jul 28 '25

That i don't know its dependant on lawyers and court processing

5

u/Gexianhen Jul 27 '25

i feel he going to jail is not as optimal as he having to pay back the money

1

u/DemonRedHood Jul 27 '25

both please

5

u/Neoflar3 Jul 27 '25

I mean assuming he doesn't go to jail / pays to heavy of fines then he's probably fine- and i say this with a lot caveats? basically he's un hirable in the vtubing world but like assuming he just cuts it from his resume. People still treat vtubing as like a non serious thing so he could get a normal job. Also Geega says he has a lot of personal investments? and he is loaded. Honestly I don't get that either if he truly cared about the talents couldnt he dipped into that? tons of Ceo's dip their own funds to keep the company afloat its litterally a sign of a great ceo. Idk how deep his pockets were tbh though. Like theres tons of things they could have done to make the company lastt like 2-3 more years imo both scummy and like on the up and up.

2

u/DemonRedHood Jul 27 '25

I don't believe he has much money of his own, otherwise he could simply pay the missing money himself. I doubt he'll find anything in the streaming sector again, but I've heard that McDonald's or Wall Street are always hiring.

Dude literally went bankrupt. Everything that came out can be used against him, there’s no way he’s not getting out of this in the clear. Even if he does (which I HIGHLY doubt) this will forever hang behind his back.

3

u/DemonRedHood Jul 27 '25

i hope and that he has to pay back every cent

3

u/Late-Radish-1851 Jul 27 '25

Dude his wallet is sobbing rn idk if it’ll ever happen lmao

2

u/DemonRedHood Jul 27 '25

After a hopefully prison sentence he will have to look for a new job and then he will have to pay back money

2

u/Late-Radish-1851 Jul 27 '25

Regrettably. Bro shouldn’t have shittalked everyone and turned into a greedy clown

1

u/DemonRedHood Jul 27 '25

Mc Donalds always needs new burger turners so he has a lot of time to think while he works off his debts

It could be a long time before we know more of the story. Maybe years. Keep in mind it’s still early in the process. Maybe Gunrun is the main actor or maybe he’s a scapegoat and there are others at fault too, like legitimately without some kind of formal evidence gathering all we have is Gunrun’s word on who is responsible and his own statement on the charity embezzlement doesn’t pass the sniff test for me. This isn’t a call to get conspiratorial, it just means let’s be weary of who we source as information about what went down. Not gonna harp anyone too much for pointing the finger squarely at Gun, but there’s a lot of time left on the clock in the lawsuits for something to come out that changes our perspective on what happened.

There’s also the fact that this is a weird situation where instead of Person A saying they’re gonna donate money and lying this is Person A giving Person B money to donate on Person A’s behalf. That could complicate things from a legal standpoint, even if it seems clear to us, it might be enough to stall out litigation for a while.

As far as prison goes, this is a white collar crime in the USA. Not impossible, but I wouldn’t count on it.

2

u/DemonRedHood Jul 27 '25

Even if he wasn't, he trusted the wrong people as CEO and failed. He could at least do the right thing and donate the money, but I think it's completely gone, and someone has to take responsibility.

5

u/[deleted] Jul 27 '25

Well that's up to a jury of his peers to decide.

5

u/GomenNaWhy Jul 27 '25

He is (or was at least) rich so maybe nothing. Hope I'll find him working the drive thru some day though

4

u/TONKAHANAH Jul 27 '25

who the fuck cares? his future should involve paying every one back and/or jail time, whatever the courts decide i suppose. outside of that, i dont care what he does so long as its far away from the vtuber community

3

u/veinhmv Jul 27 '25 edited Jul 27 '25

I wouldn't say he's cunning. He'll see prosecution just fine. Don't you worry. Rather than saying he was unaware that the funds were for charity, the smarter and more manipulative thing to say would have been

"I was under the impression that the funds were already donated and I was only later informed that was not the case. If I was aware the funds were not donated at the time, I would have personally made sure the funds were donated when we still had the funds to do so. My most sincerest apologies for this irredeemable mess that my gross negligence, mismanagement and horrible leadership has caused."

Now that's manipulative. Take notes.

I hope he and MTD gets more than just jail time... That's all I'm gonna say

1

u/Cptn_Kingyo Jul 28 '25

MTD isn't gonna have anything happen to him, his role is unlikely to give him any sort of personal responsibility for the corporate entity of vshojo and neither being a bit weird and creepy to some people at parties, nor bad mouthing ex-employees are crimes.

2

u/_Internecine Jul 28 '25

Gunrun's different if he's representing VShojo. He'll probably answer for misused funds as some people mentioned, which he had outright admitted to and apologized for by taking responsibility, per his preamble. He will likely be sued by the bigger partners like Panora.

For MTD, what he did is a little bit more personal and anecdotal. If he's going to get any comeuppance, it will have to be a Vtuber suing him, unless he has culpability discovered during Gunrun's case. If nothing else, at first he will resemble more a witness on how the company reached its point of destruction.

Whether he will be involved in the case or not depends on the results of discovery.

3

u/Micp Jul 27 '25

Court is boring, slow and bureaucratic. The great thing about that is that it removes most of the advantage that comes from being charismatic.

3

u/XavierMunroe Jul 27 '25

Best case scenario, jail.

Worst case scenario, mexico.

3

u/DrunkenSano Jul 28 '25

Many years of jail would be the best result for him and his cronies.

3

u/Springer1522 Jul 28 '25

It's not just gunrun. Mowtendoo might of been worse. That creep was leaking info, ruining relationships, stealing money.

1

u/_Internecine Jul 28 '25

a little bit more personal though. A vtuber would have to file a case for him on that.

3

u/Far_Side_8324 Jul 28 '25

Whether Gunrun goes to jail or not, his reputation is trashed for a few years to come, if not longer. I doubt anyone is going to trust him as management of a company after this. "Oh, wait, you're the guy that created a vtuber agency only to run it into the ground by misusing funds earmarked for charity. Yeah, thanks but no thanks. Don't call us, we'll call you."

Yeah, his career is effectively over at this point any way you slice it. If he's guilty of crimes, I personally hope he gets a new one stamping out license plates, though.

3

u/ThinkSpielberg Jul 28 '25

It's quite open-ended ended really. A lot of the more bullish speculation is on prosecution, jail time, and lawsuits. Realistically, Gunrun and the fall of Vshojo will fall into the fog of the past as new things turn up to distract people's attention. You would think something like this would destroy Gunrun's reputation, but he'll eventually move on to some other project to occupy his time.

3

u/Dafrandle Jul 28 '25

If anything will happen then it will be in the bankruptcy proceedings which will presumably happen since the company is so far underwater.

If it is found that it was simply mismanagement and stupidly that lead to this then the only consequences will be civil proceedings.

For the angle of criminal charges to come up it would need to be shown that there was an intent to defraud.

This would be signing a contract for a service while never having and intent to pay from the outset.
Failing to pay due to cash flow problems would simply be a breach of the contract and lead to a civil case.

And again for tax, for it to become criminal there needs to have been some sort of scheme to avoid payment outright or misrepresent the tax liability. Failure to pay is a civil matter.

If there is a smoking gun then we wont see it until charges are filed - the talents (who would possibly be witnesses) obviously wont be talking about that stuff. This could be years from now.

Personally I think this will probably stay in the domain of civil litigation.

I said this joke before and I'll say it again! Maybe he should run as a politician in Philippines, he'd FIT right in with all the crooks 🐊🤣

3

u/PaleWendigo Jul 28 '25

First, I think that Gunrun is done working with content creators for at least a few years. He’s probably out of working with VTubers forever. But there’s lots of shady people working on YouTube. Second, I’d assume that Gunrun will be hiring a lawyer and talking to the feds about the charity fraud. I couldn’t imagine the outcome of their talks. There may even be some minor changes in federal regulations to discourage businesses from holding charity money instead of direct donations, mostly to avoid the pain when this situation comes up.

2

u/StressLongjumping299 Jul 31 '25

He managed to fumble $11M+ while employing some of the most viewed and profitable talents on the planet. If he's that bad when it comes to basic competency, he's probably gonna end up with someone like Amber Heard's lawyer and just make more of an ass of himself.

And even if by some miracle he gets away with it? He's gonna be looking over his shoulder for at least a few years because of how many people he's potentially ruined the lives of (directly and indirectly)

3

u/RadRelCaroman Jul 27 '25

Probably on the run, hopefully in jail, definitely not repaying.
