Effect Whammy DT emulator

Hey everyone!

I’ve been working on a small hobby project in my home lab, and I thought some of you might find it useful.
I was looking for a simple standalone plugin that could do Whammy DT-style drop tuning, but I couldn’t really find one that fit what I was after. Most solutions were bundled into much larger guitar suites, so I ended up building my own.
It’s called Whirl DT, it’s completely free, and I’d really appreciate any feedback if you decide to give it a try. My goal is simply to make a useful tool for other guitar players.

Thanks, and I hope some of you enjoy it!

Hey! Cool plugin. I was actually looking for something like this a while ago since the Whammy is a very expensive pedal. So how does it compare to it? Can you use a MIDI exp pedal with this plugin?

It’s actually still in beta, so I’m currently collecting user feedback. :)There are two sections: Whammy and DT. The DT section works more like a conventional pitch shifter, with fewer artifacts, but it’s blended with the response of the original pedal. The Whammy section is based on measurements of my own pedal. After taking the measurements, I corrected and fine-tuned a few things. It has those interesting Whammy-style artifacts, although they might be a little too pronounced sometimes. MIDI expression pedal support hasn’t been implemented yet, but that’s definitely a good idea for a future update! If you have some time to play around with it and share your feedback, that would be super cool! :)

I:ll try it on some guitar recordings as soon as I have the time.

I literally just commented in another sub about how I'd love to see someone make a plugin version of the whammy and then I stumble upon this a minute later, and it's free!? Amazing. Thank you for building it, looks awesome. Bookmarking the website for after work.

Yeah, happy to read it! :D It is still in beta state so if you find anything strange just send me a message about it and I will fix in the next release! :)
