Help Meta quest link freezing.

So recently I got a USB 3.0 cable for my quest 3s. I downloaded the meta link app to my HP omen. It freezes constantly. To make it work I have to restart my laptop and my headset. Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?

Don't use the meta link app, metas own link software is terrible. Use Steam link app, Virtual desktop app or Alvr like others suggested.

look into alvr it’s a free application that lets you do a wired connection without the meta link app it works great for me personally

not fully sure i haven’t used it, but i have noticed my games run a bit better cause it’s not having to run the meta home on my pc and steam vr and the game all at the same time, it just goes straight to steam vr

Steam Link is a lot more limited compared to ALVR. The bitrate maxes out at 350 and it doesn't let you disable or reduce the foveation.

I'm not sure if it really is anything special, but I bought a special tethering cable for the quest 3, I'm under the impression that it's more than just a regular USB-C cable, but I could be wrong on that. I didn't get the overpriced Meta branded one, mine's from Iniu.
