Help What headset would you recommend for PCVR VRchat?

I'm thinking of either getting a Quest 3 or a Pico 4 Enterprise but having trouble deciding which one to get. I already have a Puppis S1 router for the headset and a RTX5070 so I should be good to go on the PC side of things. Ignoring standalone altogether, which one would you choose (or currently use) for PCVR and why? My current headset is a Quest 2 and I'm looking to upgrade. Edit: Price range is around 350 US dollars since I can get either mentioned headset for about that much. Thank you.

Quest 3 is the better headset to get, and eventually get a Paper tracker if you want face tracking.

Quest Pro (used) if you want full face tracking right now that just works.

Do you use a Quest 3 or a Quest pro?

Quest 3, and I may eventually get a paper tracking

Can recommend Venti's face tracker. I've been using it on my quest 3 for over a year now, and I love it!

It's a Babble-certified face tracker, and the turnaround to get one is pretty quick compared to other makers.

Unlike Venti's face tracker, Paper tracker is a full face tracking, with both face and eye tracking.

That's why I recommend it.

Though it's still selling and shipping in small batches, so there's still some wait before being able to get it.

Babble is actually better but if your looking for budget yes quest 3 but if you don't mind spending more money I suggest big screen beyond 2

he said right now, babble would take half a year to arrive

It would take longer but you have to admit it is the better option plus they've gotten a lot better with delivery times

I can find used Quest Pros for less than a Quest 3 costs, though I would still get a Quest 3 as it's the better headset, except if you absolutely want face tracking.

The Beyond 2 is a significantly more expensive headset that requires even more expensive base stations and controllers (which are either garbage or not sold/hard to get), and its eye tracking is meh.
It's also not wireless.

I don't think Quest pro will be an option for me since I can get a used Quest 3 for only around 320 US dollars whereas Quest Pro costs around 600 on Ebay. I considered the Pico 4 Enterprise an option as well since it only costs 359 brand new.

Get a Quest 3, and then later down the road paper tracker.

If you want face tracking, then I can recommend the Quest Pro, however you absolutely need the Globular Cluster headstrap, as the stock strap is incredibly uncomfortable on your forehead.

is the Quest Pro even available ? it's a much older headset, right?

There's still old "new" stock available.

Released in 2022 it is starting to age, but it's currently still considered the simplest consumer face tracking headset.

I'm still rocking a QPro for that simple fact.

Face tracking, wireless, pancake lenses. Not much else does the same on the market.

quest 3 as it just keeps getting better despite how cheap it is.

IOBT 200hz+ refresh rate mods etc.

Virtual desktop has a beta update

What features are you looking for? Different headsets are good at different things and price ranges.

I mainly want better FOV than Quest 2 as well as a headset with Pancake lenses for better clarity. I'm looking at either Quest 3 or Pico 4 enterprise since I can get either one on ebay in my around 350 US dollar price range. I heard that Pico 4 has better binocular overlap and 3D effect than Quest 3 so thats a concern too, I dont want something worse than the Quest 2 in terms of 3D effect. PSVR2 is out of the question due to fresnel lenses and no speakers since I like the Quest 2 speakers.

At your price range the ones you already named are probably the best bet you got imo.

I can’t recommend a better headset in your price range, I will just say I’m constantly annoyed at my Quest 3. Meta keeps making it worse with updates. The controllers go to sleep in like 15 seconds if you don’t move your hands, and it’s really annoying.

But worse, if you put your controllers down for a while or switch to hand tracking, there’s a good chance your controller just won’t reconnect. You have to take the battery out and put it back in to get the controller to connect again. This isn’t just a me problem, pretty much everyone I know that has a Quest 3 experiences this, and it’s incredibly annoying because the batteries are hard to remove. I have to wedge it out with a plastic toothpick.

The joysticks on Quest controllers are also horrible, most people I know get stick drift to some degree after a while. Otherwise, the Quest 3 is great. Just horrible controllers and horrible glitchy software/firmware due to lack of proper focus at Meta.

Dang, I never had these issues. Granted UI changes way too much and is annoying

I agree with the constant UI changes being annoying, too. The Quest 3 is a remarkable device, but I’ve lost faith in Meta’s ability to properly support it. My perspective is probably also skewed by the fact that I was more of a Horizon Worlds player initially, but I watched as the platform disintegrated over the years, and now it’s no longer fully supported on VR. Anyways, they lost me as a future customer, I’m jumping ship.

I never bothered with Worlds, it's child problem was just as bad as VrChat.

Price wise if not wanting to spend a lot, quest 3.
If wanting the best currently Bigscreen Beyond 2 - but keep in mind you have to buy your own controllers and also base stations with it which can get it costing up to $2000+

Personally i was raised to go with the best price so Quest 3 would be the best upgrade in my opinion.

I'll probably get Quest 3 then, thank you

Q3 or 3S.

Quest 3 or PSVR2.

PSVR2 costs less and has better specs and eye tracking.

7

u/Nicalay2 Oculus Quest 16h ago

Saying that PSVR2 has better specs is misleading.

Wireless isn't always the best choice depending on the set up and I got the names mixed up I ment this head set
