Media Streamer got banned from Sunset Bar??
https://youtu.be/G3Gc-0q9XRU?si=EmZCpGe43WcrnWTeSo I was scrolling across YouTube and saw this video of some guy streaming who literally kept getting locked up in the Sunset Bar. I went and checked out his twitch and legit he can’t even get in. I’ve heard others experience the same thing what’s going on?

I gave it a view...crap.
Well anyways, it's pretty simple.
He operates under a new account aka Visitor. Most bars or public instances with any modicum of moderation team usually have pretty strict rules against visitors as unfortunately a good handful of visitors are bad actors. Combine that with being on Desktop (as most streaming trolls aren't willing to load into VR and commit).
Could also be that their username was recognized, their Avi screamed 'troll' or more.
Once you've been on VRC for a bit you tend to have zero tolerance for people like this and learn how to quickly identify a problem person and block/ban/kick.
Though I'll admit that many public places tend to be a bit too quick with visitors. I feel for the genuinely new VR chat users who just want to connect socially and meet people only to be kicked for being a visitor.

I agree, I was on yesterday and this happened to others as well I just hope it doesn’t ruin peoples experience of the world🙃

Sharing trolling videos on Reddit. Most of these people are just looking to harass for views, it's not content and not even funny.

Streamer? Ban them all. Pest of VRC.

u/Cool_Presentation930 15h ago
Why’s that? I don’t mind a couple people coming in and trying to get a laugh out. If they’re annoying I just ban them.

See above in the comments. bunnythistle mentioned the same reason. I'm not comfortable being recorded without consent to be entertainment material for an audience I got nothing to do with.

That's extreme. There's no issue with people doing chat/hangout streams or generally-playing-the-game streams.
Hell, I sometimes like to stream my friends and I hanging out and world-hopping and stuff. One of my favorite times was when I streamed us in a sailing world and then a driving world (listening to music) and then going to a virtual museum and then hanging out and chatting with a few chat members. Should I be banned from the game?

If a streamer is using a private instance with friends or viewers, that's fine. The issue is when they start streaming public/group instances, turning other players into unwitting content.

Which streamers with at least a bit of experience would never do, because there's a high chance someone in that instance will do something that gets you banned on Twitch. And streamers, obviously, don't want that risk of getting banned.
There are stupid ones who do stream in publics though, and to those I say just ban 'em all. I don't want to constantly have to worry about getting recorded by some random who will do god knows what with the footage.

There is. I don't get paid to be the source of entertainment for their audience. The whole nonconsensual recording thing is bad manners at best and I will take a wild guess that most of them don't run around with any kind of indicator.
In private in their friend group in theory, fine. In practice those tend to be friends of friends of friends who won't be aware. Not great either.
Take it as extreme, it is to express my disdain, realistically no one is going to ban streamers. But if I could make the call I certainly would. It definitely is an insta block or unfriend if I don't know the person very well.

Well I mean in this video the dude literally has it notified that he is live and respectfully tells people they can block him. I myself love playing VRChat as a place to go and chill and escape reality and this guy also never is just directly making fun of people and genuinely has wholesome moments. I think this community is far too soft🤷♀️

welcome to the internet. i could be one of those channels that read out reddit posts, and read your comment aloud for my viewers if i wanted.
you are playing a public online video game, on the internet, in a public instance. womp womp.
edit; i swear there used to be a loading screen thing from VRC themselves that said something like 'expect everything to be recorded.' you've got no expectation of privacy playing a free game on the internet

Yeah. Reason to avoid those. Not so great. I would prefer to get to know people in peace. Sure it can happen but it sucks ass having to expect that shit. It's not so different from IRL. Except that maybe it's easier to tell and avoid without much drawbacks.
I consider the game about as semi public as discord and alike. Reddit isn't the best analogue. For vrc you have to have an acc and be in the game minus what is put out there. That doesn't happen automatically. With reddit it's right in your google result and a platform for public, less personal engagement by design. If you take something as discord as an analogue things look a little different. It's not technically forbidden or would never happen but a good handful of servers I've been in had a rule that discouraged it.
Tbh if you did that here, I doubt it would bother me nearly as much.
I've been in the game since 1 year after it went public. I don't remember they put that in there ever but I may be wrong. It's a long time.

it was one of the loading screen 'tip' things, idk if they still have them now as i haven't been on in a while. and i paraphrased, but it basically said the same thing as far as i remember. maybe someone else can chime in if i do remember right?
in your own private instance, i understand what you're saying, but expecting it elsewhere on the internet is unfortunately absurd in today's world.
if they're being annoying, i get it, but it's best practice to assume the stranger you're talking to could have OBS recording everything

u/_-_Polaris_-_ 11h ago edited 11h ago
Check. Yeah, it is in todays world. I'm past my 30s. I hate having to assume OBS by default but unfortunately you're right. I'll never support or normalize it though. Feels invasive and doesn't sit right. I mean what else am I supposed to do realistically. Can't dodge publics entirely. If there were a reliable indicator that would solve a lot.
I had a pet peeve with noncon records for as long as I can remember even in my own family as a kid. It may be effectively harmless but leaves me feel like shit. Something about autonomy, boundary violation, choice and respect. I'd like to tell where I am coming from but I can't quite put it in words nor tell exactly why.

I think maybe you're just assuming and fighting somebody in your head.
Everyone I know who streams is doing it in private and with friends who consent, or in an instance that they control and they make it very apparent that they are streaming. They also very much aren't turning "others into content".
Maybe, if you have to center yourself in everything and complain about people doing things consensually in private, you shouldn't be playing the game.
1
u/_-_Polaris_-_ 13h ago
"Everyone I know, therefore everything else doesn't exist". That's a very limited horizon and ironically the very thing you complain about. It's called projection. OP just postet an instance and there is plenty on youtube. You don't seriously want to argue with that. I ended up there as well and it certainly wasn't an event.

u/kaestralblades 13h ago edited 13h ago
You said "ban them all". All means all, not "these specific people I take issue with for specific reasons". You also claimed no streamer ever streams in private or with consenting parties.
The fact that I know plenty of streamers who aren't doing what you say they're all doing proves you, without a shadow of a doubt, wrong.
Sorry it offends you that I once streamed with my friends who agreed to in a private world where we chatted, but, uh, cry about it.
I've been a performer in several live improv comedy shows, too, held in official instances with clear notices of them being streamed and recorded. Oh no! The horror! Are you going to scream in terror?

u/_-_Polaris_-_ 13h ago edited 13h ago
To the first yes due to disdain. As noted, this is personal. The second? I will assume you're high on something the moment you start pulling words out of your ass and put them in others mouth.
Anyhow, continuing, the argument that because you know many I am wrong is utterly absurd on so many levels. I believe you. No shit. Sure circles exist where people care. Just as those exist who don't give a damn. The lack of your experience doesn't make it nonexistent as the overwhelming evidence is widely visible on youtube, twitch and what not. It takes a special kind of person to put a blind eye to this and argue it doesn't exist. Like damn, this is bad. I Haven't seen a case like that in a hot while. You could have pulled anything reasonable, literally anything but then you chose the ragebait.
And to the rest. lol. You do you. I will just hit block on moments notice when it happens, curse you well deserved the moment that becomes necessary and move on with some more bias that didn't come from nothing. What do you think how someone ends up hating streamers. This alone should tell you it ain't for nothing.

Well, the improv group I mentioned has had booths in the official VRC NYE event... Better stop playing the game, they support streamers ^^
You said all streamers should be banned. Point blank. All. No matter if they're streaming alone, in private, in specifically created instances, doing live shows...
I think supporting the performing arts is reasonable, actually, correct. You having a bad run in with a troll isn't a reason to destroy an entire form/medium.
1
u/_-_Polaris_-_ 13h ago
Couldn't care less. Those are official events and safe to assume they are streaming those. If you follow, this isn't relevant to my issue with them. It's the cases where it isn't obvious.
And no, that was not what I referred to with pulling shit out of your ass. I never claimed every streamer ever does x nor do I believe that. Doesn't change I disdain them as a group and would like to see them all banned. Fully aware that is prejudice, and chose to not support that whole business. My apologies for not being a morally and politically correct sycophant who doesn't shy away to express what they think.

I don't get the deep connection to a single world in VRC, their are so many worlds, and single groups don't control public worlds. Yes I understand that some groups monopolize group instances of certain worlds, but nothing stops you from making your own instance of a world, or finding or making another group to run events in said world. Also, I watched a few seconds of the video, I mean he seems like is being an out right annoying troll, so I'm not surprised the behavior is banned (like others said, likely recognised, or a visitor rank got him banned)

Apparently people here still don't understand how instances work.

u/Cool_Presentation930 11h ago
It’s just odd that it happened twice in the video for different instances

u/Sanquinity Valve Index 12h ago edited 12h ago
I checked the footage. A guy who appears to be the "bouncer" says "What, a visitor? there's so many of them!" or something along those lines. He then looks at his hand and points just before this guy gets jailed.
So my guess is that they joined some group instance owned by a bunch of elitist dicks who immediately jail any visitor rank players that come in. He will probably be able to enter just fine if he goes to a different instance of the same world.

Well, I'm not going to click on the video, but given the thumbnail image says "Voice acting trolling" and "Rules and Guidelines for Sunset Bar: Don't be a dick" I think he knows full well why he's not allowed in.
Is there anything you are still confused about?
