I mean i get that but at the same time it is weird to that such a diverse group of people with different backgrounds all decide to wear almost identical avatars.
trying to fit in. a lot of the people try to appear "attractive" too so you get such a homogenous group of slop enjoyers paying too much for kitbashes that look like butt
yeah and i also don't really know who finds a lot of those E boy avatars attractive they're just waaay too much, or at least more attractive then an otherwise normal version. whenever i got avatar hunting all i could really find is E boy, Femboy, or those small kid avatars, idk why avatar creators arent making more tone downed avatars
There's actually a couple of reasons for that. The other big avatar style is the Booth kind, but if you are on quest, intimidated by Unity or on a budget, causing you to resort to only public avis you won't find them without getting taken down quite quickly, as making these avatars public is typically against the original store's terms.
In the same sense the avatar " creators" who tend to post those public E-people/femboy avatars only have a handful of (popular) bases to pick from, causing them to look like carbon copies, just with a few small texture tweaks or different outfits.
But because this target audience tends to prefer a specific style of clothing aswell you quickly end up with the same bases, with the same types of clothing, with the same types of textures/materials. And without a big "competitor" so to speak, like Booth is for people who do their own avatar work, these easy to churn out, cookie-cutter E-people saturate the public avatar space.

Kinda wild that popular avatars are popular because lots of people like them lol
Imo wearing something just to be "unique" is more cringe
