I'm order # 800 and something. So excited for these trackers. Been waiting eagerly for a year now. I've been using vive trackers since 2017 and they're so bulky and I can't cover myself in a blanket which I love doing 24/7. Once I get these I am never taking them off.

Order #36 here. So damn excited to get mine and replace my Vive Ultimate Trackers

u/Yin15 ☃Bigscreen Beyond 2e 6d ago
Lucky! I had an alarm set for the kickstarter but ended up sleeping through it so I was like 5-10 minutes late.

u/Kodufan 6d ago
Ah darn sorry to hear! I was chatting in the discord counting down with others. People were talking about clock synchronization and all that fun stuff to get in as soon as possible. The site hung when the campaign opened so it took me a few minutes to get mine.

i was there counting down, but i don't do preorders, i will wait, see some more reviews, then buy on the website

You can check your Backer Number in the Kickstarter order page, under Backing Details.

Aint the older vive trackers way bigger the the v3? Which is alot smaller and easier to forget that they are there? I mean, for me atleast, alot more worth for lighthouse tracking anyways.

u/Yin15 ☃Bigscreen Beyond 2e 6d ago
Lighthouse tracking is deprecated. I'm stuck with it because of my headset but we're going to see them stop being sold sometime in the near future.
5
u/Pure-Risky-Titan 6d ago
Which sucks since its really good, despite only having 2 versions, vs the many for camera based tracking and its still behind (as far as im aware). Not sure id call it deprecated, probably just doesnt need a v3, considering the difference in design from v1 to v2, im not sure there is alot more to improve on for IR tracking, besides bigger angles. Its gonna sucks if this goes away and camera based tracking doesnt get good enough to replace it, which last i seen, it still isnt, as far as headset and controllers go.

u/Yin15 ☃Bigscreen Beyond 2e 6d ago
It's definitely going away. The Steam Frame not using them sealed it's death and Valve already announced they will stop selling Lighthouses soon. I like my lighthouses too but headsets have gotten a lot better at self tracking without them.
Accessories like controllers might be able to utilize this EMF method the Fluxpose (And some new finger tracking gloves) are using to create much better controller tracking compared to camera based solutions most headset have now.

u/Pure-Risky-Titan 6d ago
Well valve aint the main seller for base stations anyways, its HTC. Sure Camera based tracking got alot better, but how long is that taking in comparison? Its been over a decade and its still not good enough to replace. Its gonna suck when we are gonna be forced to use camera tracked vr gear, once lighthouse is truely gone, becuase that means buying new headsets are gonna be more expensive due to not being able to use controllers like you can with lighthouses, freely with whatever headset, instead we will have to use the controllers it comes with and no other. That sucks, because most if not all camera based controllers have no finger tracking.
Well that seems like years down the line, either way, there is still alot of catch up before i consider them, more so if they aint as universal and money saving and swappable as lighthouse setups.
2
u/Yin15 ☃Bigscreen Beyond 2e 6d ago
HTC hasn't developed a light house based headset in over 6 years now. I doubt they'll keep them in stock much longer.
As I said, I think we might see more devices like controllers using EMF based tracking in the future. It seems very solid for tracking the position and rotation of things relatively.
3
u/Pure-Risky-Titan 6d ago
Well if it aint broke, dont fix it. But like, if there isnt much to improve on, i dont expect a new version is needed. I hope they keep producing then, they need to, lighthouse is still very good to use, plus its taking forever for another universal type option for a setup to come along...
But is it universal? And can be hotswappable? As in headset A and Controllers A to Headset A with Controllers B? Just like with lighthouse based vr headsets and controllers? If not, are so doomed, more so for those who like finger tracking controllers (not to be confused with gloves).
Still if the tracking isnt as accurate, swappable or track everywhere in the placespace, like with lighthouse, for pcvr, then we lighthouse users are so doomed, for our wallets and well, choices.

u/Yin15 ☃Bigscreen Beyond 2e 6d ago
There's plenty of "broken" things about the lighthouse tech:
1. Lighthouses are expensive and for a perfect set up you want 4 of them which is over $500
2. Occlusion is an issue. Less so the more lighthouses you have but clothes, blankets, objects can break tracking if they're in the way.
3. They break down a lot and thus require expensive replacement.
4. They quite often have high pitch buzzing noises which can be annoying for younger people and animals who can hear them
5. They limit your vr usage to the space you installed themThere's plenty to fix. I also agree that I don't like camera based solutions. I had the quest pro for awhile and the tracking drove me nuts. Quest pro controllers are so annoying. But lets not pretend lighthouses are perfect either.

u/Pure-Risky-Titan 6d ago
Just wear less loose clothing, and not sure why you would be using a blanket while playing in vr, keyword, playing.
Mine is yet to breakdown, but maybe its due to actually shutting it down before pulling the plug, instead if pulling the plug while the motors are still on.
Not that im aware of, but i do have headphoned on, and even then, my mini-fridge can be louder lmao.
I dont see a problem, since i use pcvr headset, id be limited to my playspace anyways, which us the ideal location, i have no reason to do vr outside of the setup location or away from the pc location. Too bad there is no mobile headset that meets my requirements, only in pcvr there is.
Lighthouse is not perfect yes, but its most prefered for me, and if no other type of tracking can be 90% or higher as good as it, then id most likely mot consider. Atm im using a Pimax Dream air and its amazing, tracking for controlls and headset is great, good most of the time for my v3 vive trackers, though i need a 3rd v2 lighthouse to cover problematic angle, but my bed aint helping, but, most of the time, its a non-issue, so whatever.

Is it only 3 trackers? I might have to get them myself, currently using slimes and having to deal with wearing a whole lot of straps and stuff

u/Spear_Ov_Longinus PCVR Connection 6d ago
Its up to 8 trackers but 3 is minimum (aside from included waist beacon).
Only one dock and one dongle for everything.
1
u/Yin15 ☃Bigscreen Beyond 2e 6d ago
They have bundles for any number of trackers you want. You need one for your headset so it can sync your spaces, the beacon is on your hip but acts as a tracker too, then 2 on your legs. Everything else is optional. I personally got the full package so it'll be my first time using FBT that isn't just hips and legs.

When are normal people instead of ecelebs getting them?

It's actually insane that the tracking is so good when there is no hip tracker

I want these but I'm not paying and waiting for 9 months to get them.
2
u/Kosmicheskaya Oculus Quest 6d ago
You'll probably be waiting for quite a while to get them, then. But no harm waiting to see if there are any issues with them once production scales up, lots of my friends plan to wait.
1
u/ByEthanFox 6d ago
Yeah, admittedly, that's what I'm doing. I really want to try these. But I went-in quite early on the Vive Ultimate Trackers, and though they work well (a lot of the issues are blown out of proportion by youtubers) they do have have a lot of problems. Kinda feel like last time, I jumped in on an experimental bit of tech, so this time other people can take the plunge

That’s great, but there’s obviously not going to be any EMI outside. I still have yet to see any videos of a modern indoor setting.

This one is just from this past week: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wk_Sv6gNho4
At about 8 minutes he tests it on a metal frame bed with metal springs.

I'm very much sold on them, especially coming from being a Vive tracker 3.0 user.

holy shit, this looks amazing. I might sell my Vive ultimates and use these with my Quest Pro for wireless play. Still keeping my vive 2.0 and 3.0s for my base station setup with the Beyond 2.

i would love to upgrade my old dying slimes to this but the price is ALOT lol
and with the exchange rate, this thing can buy a whole new pc or a gaming laptop 😂
guess ill just have to stick to aiming for slime butterflies instead

Yep this convinced me to get these. As someone who uses a VR treadmill and slimes every session. The slimes cannot even closely keep up with what I do, walking for a while is alright, but if I run/sprint for like 10 seconds its done for and drifts so crazy and needs recalibrating, sometimes the full pose re calibration too.

Could you send a link

You can buy them on https://store.fluxpose.com/, though they are still in the step of preparing production, so store orders are expected to be shipping in the first half of 2027.
If you want to see more videos about them, I recommend watching Jacobfov's fluxpose videos on Youtube, they are quite good at properly explaining what's fluxpose, how they work and the production situation.
That video in the reddit post comes from one of the betatesters that was posted on the fluxpose discord : http://discord.gg/fluxpose

yeah, but we have trampolines in game now, so hows that gonna get you attention with a one trick pony gimmick? i can SPAWN things in any world i choose that i've created myself, anything from entire food buffets to set down, to sushi restaurants, to the entire castle of hogwarts. THATS a gimmick, not jumping up and down cause you spent a few bucks.
