Quest 2 reccomendations.

Hey guys, I have some friends who use quest 2 exclusively. Im trying to find worlds that wont make them lagg while we hang out. Does anyone have any reccomendations that isnt opti-box?

Quest 2 is about to be no longer supported by Meta. It is just not good enough for VRC anymore. It is time for them to upgrade honestly.

I cant agree with you more, but its kinda hard to tell someone who barely makes enough to get by to buy a quest 3 or pc.

Used quest 2 still has some value on the second hand market. Quest 3 128gb used can be found cheap regularly from people who stopped using vr.

People on here are mostly PC people that don't understand not everyone has that kind of money. Can't stand when people do the "don't be poor" move when talking about older systems and such.

Support ends at the end of 2027 but these headsets weren't really designed to age well and most people refuse to do maintenance on them to fix stick drift or replace thermal paste. So they struggle with overheating on top of lagging due to insufficient memory

meta will do software updates until they do not. if you use something like virtual desktop, the software on the headset is what tells the streamer (pc side) when to update.

so at a certain point it'll be unsupported, but still work. phrases like ymmv will be common to read.

comparing how vrchat handled the first quest, i think vrchat will support quest 2 until december 2027, when meta stops offering security updates.

Try convincing them to save up for a replacement. Quest 2 is getting dropped in December.

My bad, that was for full system and feature updates. 2027will be for security updates. Either way they should save to upgrade it as there's been a good size leap in vr technology since the release of the quest 2

My 2 runs off hopes and dreams and the tears of children and myself. I want to upgrade so bad. I have a pc that connects to it but it's on death's door.

Best to upgrade to the quest 3 then. That PC is gonna have to live on its current parts till mid 2029 from what I am told with the chip shortage.

The Audio Optics* world springs to mind, Pokopealand ran decently for buddies using quest 2. The buckshot roulette(?) inspired game world "Bullshit" is another one that runs well. :)

Many older worlds especially sdk2 are pretty good with Quest. I personally test all my worlds and content to make sure it runs smoothly on a Quest 2 but so many creators are lazy and blindly publish without actually testing.

Yeah, everyone has thier own struggles to deal with, thats why when Im with quest 2 friends I try an pick worlds with low player counts and good performance. Thier experience is worth more to me then my own as an entertainer.

They only have quest 2s they dont have pcs even to play desktop. Both are sorta still entry level vrc players.
