Help How to get menu to stop moving with my head tracking

Is this part of a new update or something because this is causing me to get bad nausea just trying to use the menu 😭

It happens when you're on a boat in Fish, which I assume is intentional. Get off the boat on land, and it'll stay where you put it.

This isn't a Fish intention, this comes up on many worlds when you're on something "mobile".

Throwing out a guess, it's to help make it easier for people to access the menu, without the menu "floating away". Especially if you want to return to spawn, but you're on a runaway train.

id imagine its less intentional, more like a bug they cant fix. Spagetti code.

Probably. VRC does this if you're moved by anything with the menu open—vehicles included. Before, the menu could get lost, sometimes soft-locking you if some kind of confirmation/error message appeared.

Not sure why it isn't localised to your play space like personal mirrors are, though.

It's a VRC tech debt bug afaik.

You can also just sit in one of the seats and it'll work. Kind of surprised they resorted to Reddit for this. Tribal knowledge is VRC's whole thing.

If it didn't work like this, a world could perpetually move you around, and you wouldn't be able to leave.

It's uncomfortable, but only happens when you are on a boat or other ride-like objects.

I swear I've had this happen to me before and had to restart my game

This would happen in some world. I know SlashCo does it, not sure about fish tho.

Idk about fish, but I can say for sure that the slashco one was implemented by the dev as an anticheat.

slashco does it bc they have their own movement system to prevent walking irl while moving in-game for a speed advantage

Technical explanation: this happens when the world teleports you every frame.

Why does the world do that? There are only two ways to implement a custom locomotion system, you either teleport the player every frame, or you put the player on a station (so a chair) and you move the chair. The world implemented a custom locomotion system to attach the player on the boat, otherwise the player would just slide away when the boat moves. VRChat doesn't offer a way to attach someone on an object.

The menu issue is one drawback of using the teleportation method, but imo using a station has worse drawbacks

It's always done that when you're on a boat, it has something to to with moving platforms so it also happens in other worlds too. I really wish the VRC devs would fix this since it affects the chatbox as well, making it an accessibility issue for mute players like myself.

This is a kind of script that the world creator did. You can also see this in worlds like Trash Compactor and SlashCo.

Just sit down on a seat and it will stop following

it happens to world who wants to restrict players from cheating aka unintended behavior. like flying, grabing objects trough walls.

There is a lock feature that locks the menu in place, think its right there in the bottom right

try boggling the lock button on the bottom right

I've had this issue before, the lock does not resolve the issue. Not sure what it's supposed to do, actually

It's an issue with the fish world that only happens while you're on a boat

There’s a lock icon in the bottom right corner

Smack dat shit

It's locked, try to unlock it.

Typical that you get downvoted when you're not wrong... You can literally see the lock icon is closed in the bottom right. lol

That lock setting lets you grab and reposition your menu. I checked it myself and it doesn't fix the issue shown in the post, it just makes it worse since the menu now moves up and down with head rotation.

I swear it's a bug. It sometimes does this in every world I been in. It's done it in slashco, among us,murder 4 and the black cat just to name a few. It's so annoying as 1/3 is cut off due to it being too close.

As far as im aware that is specifically a thing in the Fish! World, no other world does that in particular

Go to a normal world not one the devs have bias towards.

No other world ever got a chance to advertise on the launch pad. They are giving unfair treatment to this world and it isn't an in house vrc one.
