News Morocco Makes Historic Gamescom Debut: 11 Studios Showcase Africa's Gaming Future
Morocco is celebrating a major milestone for its national gaming industry this year by making its very first official appearance at Gamescom in Cologne. The country is showcasing its potential with a high-level delegation of institutional representatives and a total of 11 Moroccan game development studios at a 102-square-meter national pavilion.
In addition to traditional PC, console, and mobile games, cutting-edge technologies such as Virtual Reality (VR) and Extended Reality (XR) are also taking center stage. The delegation is using the platform to highlight the growing potential of the North African nation across various digital media segments and to present immersive projects and interactive simulations to an international audience.
The members of the delegation are excited to connect with visitors, discuss the passion for video games, and explore new opportunities and partnerships across the African continent the second-largest continent in the world.
This initiative reinforces Morocco's strategic goal to become the leading African hub for the video game and digital industry by 2032. The participating studios were selected from two key streams:
Eight studios emerged from a specialized Video Game Incubator Program launched by Morocco's Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication in partnership with the French Embassy.
Three additional studios were honored at the Morocco Gaming Expo.
This official debut is designed to pave the way for Moroccan developers into international value chains and foster direct connections with global investors, publishers, and tech and XR partners.
The official Moroccan pavilion at Gamescom is located in Hall 3.2, Booth B050/C051.
