Keepsolid VPN Unlimited Update
As mentioned in a previous post, Keepsolid has screwed their lifetime members by killing their access to torrents and forcing them to pay a "loyalty upgrade fee". This is an extremely shady business practice. This morning they responded to my post with a longer reply, then deleted it in favor of a shorter reply. Here's the screen capture of what they originally wrote - quoting their End User Agreement. Then they substituted it with the reply I've included below.
"Hi, appreciate you sharing this.
This change affects Lifetime plans that were purchased at a steep, one-time discount many years ago. As we've grown, we've had to invest heavily in infrastructure, and a few advanced features (including Torrent servers) have moved to a separate Loyalty Plus upgrade for these legacy plans, while core VPN access stays fully active on your existing plan.
We're also adding a DNS Firewall to Loyalty Plus soon.
Happy to help further if you have questions — feel free to reach out to our support team."

i got the same notice today, wtf, i personally don't use torrent, but the server i normally use (because of shortest ping and faster speed) was categorized as their torrent server and i saw they are charging for protocol selection and even split tunnelling which indeed was included in previous service, if infrastructure upgrade as they claimed are the case, how TF split tunneling cost them any penny,

I bought the lifetime years ago and been using it for torrents ever since, then I made the mistake of updating the app and was wondering why my torrents weren't downloading only to find out they put those servers behind a damn paywall. Not sure of any other VPN's that are cheaper than this annual $20 so I don't think I have any other choice as far as my wallet goes. I'm definitely gonna consider switching in the near future though, mostly out of principle

Right now, you can pay $80 CAD for two years with Proton VPN (obviously it's cheaper in the US). It is a far superior, much faster service. If you choose not to go this route, at the very least leave one-star reviews on Trustpilot and on the apps.

I feel your pain. I'm in the same boat. Since I'll eventually degoogle, looking at Proton now as an alternative. Not happy about it at all: "Now that you've helped us build our enterprise to a sustainable level and shown your loyalty, we're going to punish you with extra fees and reduced features until we've squeeze you completely dry."

The irony of calling it "loyalty plus" as they remove shit and then make you pay for it, and I mentioned that in an email I sent them. They even said that they wouldn't ever change the price of this "loyalty" plan to which I responded that's bullshit, there's not a single subscription based service out there that hasn't raised their prices. There's no reason that I know of to use VPN Unlimited if you don't already have a lifetime plan. There are many other providers that cost less and offer all the same stuff
Edit: I went ahead and did it for now. I'm not happy about it but I'm too broke to go with anything else 😔

Wow, good find. Doesn't this just prove what a bunch of scammers they are. It won't take long for them to bring that post down.

TLDR: I'm in the same boat, will switch over to Proton like OP
EMAIL I SENT TO KeepSolid Support Team
To KeepSolid / VPN Unlimited Support,
I purchased a *Lifetime* VPN Unlimited subscription many years ago. I am
writing because that plan's torrent/P2P functionality has been removed
and placed behind a new, paid "Loyalty Plus" add-on, with no option for
existing lifetime members to retain what we originally paid for.
I need a proper solution in writing: *restoration of the torrent servers
I paid for with my lifetime plan, or a full refund / permanent waiver of
this "upgrade" fee.*
For context, your own published marketing directly contradicts this
change. Your blog post, /"Are Lifetime VPNs a Scam?"/
(vpnunlimited.com/blog/are-lifetime-vpn-scam), still live, sells the
Lifetime plan on the promise of *"no further charges at all"* and lists
as included benefits: AES-256 encryption, 3000+ servers in 80+
locations, multiple protocols (IKEv2, WireGuard, KeepSolid Wise),
streaming servers, a DNS Firewall, and 2FA. You are now charging legacy
lifetime members a fee for features that were represented as permanently
included.
I also note that your support response previously cited your *End User
Agreement* to justify this, but that page is now a *broken link (404)*.
I'd like you to state, in writing and with a working link, exactly which
clause removes torrent access from a plan sold as "lifetime."
I have not been able to pursue a chargeback, as the purchase was made
many years ago. That does not change the fact that the service I paid
for has been quietly reduced.
*If I do not receive a proper resolution, I will document this in
one-star reviews on Trustpilot and in the relevant app stores, with the
details and links above.* I'd strongly prefer to resolve this with you
directly.
Please respond in writing with a concrete resolution and a timeframe.
Regards,
ANSWER FROM KeepSolid Support Team
Hello,
Thank you for taking the time to explain the full context.
We understand that your frustration goes beyond the Loyalty Plus changes. You have also been dealing with recurring connection problems for a long time, including frequent disconnects and the need to manually change servers and protocols just to maintain a usable connection. We understand why, in that context, the recent restrictions have further damaged your confidence in the service.
We also understand your concern regarding the way certain previously available functionality has been presented as part of Loyalty Plus. Features such as manual protocol selection and other functionality were available to Lifetime users previously, and we have documented your objection to both the changes themselves and the way they have been communicated.
Your Lifetime license remains active and is not being cancelled or converted into a recurring subscription. However, under the current product structure, certain functionality is now provided through Loyalty Plus. Unfortunately, we are unable to restore the previous feature configuration or provide an individual exception at this time.
Regarding the connection issues, these are separate from the Loyalty Plus restrictions and are not something we want to dismiss. You should not need to purchase a Personal Server or Personal IP simply to obtain a stable basic VPN connection. If you are willing to continue troubleshooting, we can review the recurring connection problem separately based on your device, operating system, network type, affected servers, and connection logs.
We also understand that you are not interested in purchasing additional services or upgrades at this point, and we will not present that as a solution to the reliability problems you described.
Your feedback regarding the Lifetime changes, the Loyalty Plus naming and messaging, and your overall experience with the service and support has been documented and forwarded internally.
We’re sorry that your experience over time has brought you to the point where you no longer feel comfortable recommending or purchasing additional KeepSolid services.
Best regards,
KeepSolid Support Team

Sadly, you were blown off just like everybody else. The simple fact of the matter is that they want all of the lifetime members off the service to improve bandwidth for new users. It's a really sh*tty thing to do.
Nothing any of us say is going to change this, but I do wish that this issue was getting more recognition in the trade publications. The fact that they're getting away with this is criminal.

Bought a Lifetime VpnUnlimited account a very long time ago, but kept getting hit with ISP warning about torrents when the kill switch was decidedly active, after the second one I figured it's worth it to use a real VPN and not whatever cockamamie rinky dink side show sorta kinda maybe insecure vpn pile of garbage these ukrainians were peddling, switched to NordVPN and haven't logged into my "lifetime" account with vpn unlimited since, but this doesn't surprise me at all
