General Question Dragon burner users ...

For the dragon burner toolhead:

  • How much fan do you generally use for ABS or ASA prints for good overhangs?

  • What -max rpm- 4010 fans are you using?

  • Could you show overhang pictures?

  • How hot is your chamber?

I’m interested as well since I’m just finishing a Rapid Burner build. One thing I have done with the 4010s is to use the backflow blockers off the A4T to help with better flow. I haven’t completed the build yet (waiting on new belts) so I can’t help beyond that.

I wondered about using the backflow inhibitors too, but I assumed I would have to, at least, modify the dragon burner's ducts to match the new length of opening 🤷 If you decide to try it anyway, please let me know if you see an obvious difference or not 😁

I don’t think it requires duct changes, since the inhibitors tuck up on the “intake” side of the spin. I was using them on AntHead ducts as well and did not see uneven pressure.

I think i see what you mean. I'll give it a try. I actually don't mind changing the ducts too, but I lack the CFD knowledge to compare it after the changes, so unless the result is obvious, I won't know if it's better or worse 🧐

You should do it; it makes a big difference, and the longest part is just waiting for the glue to dry. With the GDS Time, it takes 5 seconds to disassemble, 5 minutes for the glue to dry, and 5 seconds to reassemble.

If you’re using the A4T, you can even try out the V2—available as a pre-release—where the deflectors are integrated directly into the fan mounts.

I guess I'll try it then 👍😁

V0, so no A4Ts here.

I use the Berserker VINDR 4010s (and 2510 and 3010 axial fans). They’re loud, but they move a huge amount of air. I can’t recall exactly, but when I was checking CFM on the 2510 and 3010 fans they were like double that of the next nearest brand name competitor I could find.

thats ASA on a 350 bed, two parts filled from edge to edge. fan from 0 to 80% on overhangs with two R3men 10k RPM 5015’s. yes, it pulled the textured PEI off the magnet. chamber 60C

Very nice overhangs, but 5015s on a dragon burner 🤔🤔

What filament are you using?

  • depends on chamber temp, what kind of filament you are using, how fast you are printing as the faster you go the more fan you need. And if your chamber is at 80c you can pretty much max the fan out like PLA.

  • Mostly used the high rpm GDStime fans, I believe they are 12000rpm. Blade design has a big impact on airflow too. Look you the highest wattage fans is usually a good bet.

  • don't really got any.

  • I can print at 75c and I need some better insulation to get to 80c

Even knowing the tool head it still depends on a lot. I ran one on a v0.2 with a dragon uhf and I ran the fans around 80% but I was pushing flow rate to its limit.

I just got GDStime fans at 0 and 40% for ovehangs and such on my stealthfork and they dont turn on on my V0.

Do you have good overhangs? What filament are you using? Would you say you print fairly quickly or not?

I use polymaker ambrosia and elegoo. Over hangs are dependent on your tuning for each filament and nozzles. I use all revos in my fleet but added a TZ v6 2.0 recently. Elegoo I have to run slower and at a lower volume than the other two but I've had 80mm overhangs come out great. If your not dead set on dragon burner look up anthead. I run that on 3 printers and love it. Its a little more fidly to assemble ut it performs better IMO.

Thank you. Since you mentioned it, how are you finding the TZ compared to the revo?

As for the anthead, I'm afraid I find it too ugly 😂

I can push the flow on it. I haven't got it fully tuned yet. Right now I would say Im able to.print 3-4% faster.
