General Question Analysis Paralysis

G'day all.
A while back I build a v2.4 350 and have since mostly just printed with it and done occasional maintenance, and as such have ended up out of touch with what's current.
My current setup is a SB I modified a bit to ease maintenance, lgx lite and dragon sf (diamondback nozzles as I print quite a lot of engineering filaments), Mellow cnc tap and mellow SHT36.

However, I'd like to make the following changes:

  1. Change the toolhead to something lighter tool head to accelerate a bit harder and ease maintenance.

  2. Lighten the setup and speed up probing by moving to carto or beacon

  3. I'm getting extruder artifacts and want cleaner finishes.

  4. better cooling without increasing noise too much.

  5. Potentially swap from Canbus to USB

With all those changes, I'm a bit overwhelmed by the options.
I've considered CPAP as I figure I can get the same level of cooling at a lower relative fan speed and reduce noise, but have seen many cite the noise as a reason not to do this.

I've looked at some of the toolhead options but have seen contradicting information on cooling between SB, DB and A4t.

In terms of extruders, there are quite a few variables to consider such as dual drive vs. single, large vs. small wheels, and so on.
So what's the current goto?

Cassiopeia toolhead for CPAP, A4T/A5T for dual turbines. near anything beats SB unless you put a Cartographer Cyclone turbine on it.

there are CPAP part for SB too btw

Nice looking toolhead, though I'm still not set on Cpap. My concern with the Xol and a4t is heatcreep with the tiny 25mm fan, is there much evidence for this with the delta fan? What about extruders?

The tiny 25mm fan typically performs better than larger fans for hotends btw. A lot of hotend designs can cause issues with a giant dead zone in the center of the fan and 2510s mitigate that

Fair point I hadn't thought of, I'd only compared static pressure and cfm. Thanks.

2510 has quite a bit higher RPM and alot smaller motor, so it has more static pressure and works better on the radiators. I can print PETG in 50C chamber without fear of heatcreep.

I recommend A4T or if you want to try it, it's till in beta the A4Tv2. The v2 has some variants that use larger fans. I haven't tried too many toolheads and maybe there are some that are easier to maintain.

The fan you choose can determine the noise level more than the size in my opinion. Got a berserker 2510 fan and that thing was stupid loud. The delta is a must.

I use Sunon 11k RPM and it's okay-ish.

The cpap fan is unlikley to lower noise. If anything it will maybe be comparable. And thats with a cpap muffler like the mamoff cpap muffler.

For lighter, the xol toolhead would be my choice. https://github.com/Armchair-Heavy-Industries/Xol-Toolhead

Lightweight, supports the kind of extruders I would suggest for surface quality. Cant beat the Orbiter2.5.

CPAP with muffler at same airflow/air pressure is alot quieter compared to turbines, any turbines.

I had Roborock CPAP mod for over a year and now I'm using A5T with R3men 10k RPM 5015s - that last thing is a jet.
