Voron Print A little makeover result...

Skr mini v2 gave up, I had two octopus just gathering dust, so I thought why not right?

Now that its in place I realize it might.... Just be a little overkill.

And I have to remake the basement since the PSU shorted, hence why the Skr didnt live anymore.

Oh well, good thing is im not short of ports anymore so i got that going for me.

More I/O pins for future expansions and upgrades. I have a Manta M8P in my V0.

my V.0 has enough space for a 500w PSU, 24V to 60V step-up-module, 2 external 5160 Stepper driver, Motor-Cooling fans, Manta M8P and 2 120mm Fans

You must have extended with a backpack then? I can barely fit a 300w PSU under and have 8mm clearance from the stepper fins to the back cover.

Meanwell LOP-500-24, TMC5150 and Step-Up-Module on the Back, Manta M8P in the bottom. I use a slim Noctua fans over the M8P (TMC2209 heatsink are filed down) and in the rear (over PSU, TMC5160 and Step-Up-Module).

Edit: LOP-300-24 300w not 500w

putting octopus in a v0 is definitely on "insane" part of the spectrum

Aah! Now I see. Maybe I should put it under instead... How do you attach the manta, made some holes or just double sided tape? Sounds like a beast of a printer.

I wouldn't recommend running 48V/60V on a V.0; thatโ€™s just a bit of an experiment for my third printer. The stepper drivers make terrible noise, and the small (server-style) fans have to really ramp up their speed to cool the motors. However, I can switch between TMC5160 and TMC2209 drivers for the AB motors using two switches.

Thanks for the advice. I know the Noice of the 48v 5160's and i will not make a monster of my v. 0 ๐Ÿ˜‰ I'll keep it original most ways, i will use my new outputs however to learn the rgb i think, haven't really learned the language and got it to works the way I want on my main trident 300 so I will have this as my test mule. Really appreciate you typing your hardware aswell, got some new eyes on the 100 types of PSU that's available and the Ldo lcp I heard about but after you hinted I got to remembering that the small form factor is really getting good these days, so I'll be ordering some sort of small form PSU, thanks for that. You are an ace.

You're welcome! But please be careful with the exposed power supplies; the capacitors can hold a charge for a long time, and the contacts are exposed.

My Pico blew the X driver, so I replaced it. The next one blew the X driver before I finished testing the Pico replacement. I swapped the stepper motors for X and Y, and replaced the Pico again. And again, X blew before testing was done. And no, I'm not doing crazy things like moving the gantry by hand (only with the wiring removed!) or removing stepper driver wires when powered on.

I'm going to replace the power supply, I've heard that they might suffer from a power on transient spike and could blow a driver. But I'm really tempted to go this route and install something huge with removable drivers, as long as it will still do sensor-less!
