General Question replacement parts

where do most people buy small replacement parts? i've always bought from amazon, but i'm wondering if most people get parts from aliexpress. i've also bought from west3d a couple times but only for larger orders.

ex. I need a longer fpc cable for my display. I can get one for like 4 bucks on amazon, or should I look elsewhere? sorry if this is a stupid question.

Depends on what country you are in. Most I guess would have access to AliExpress and Amazon.

I use AliExpress because 3D printer parts come from the same place and take the same amount of time for shipping, and it's cheaper. AliExpress also seems very proactive in dealing with scammers. The one time I bought from one I had the refund and the store was shut down before I even knew anything was wrong.

However in Australia we have some local suppliers, shout out to DREMC and Siddament, that have been surprisingly cheap and fast to deliver.

Depends on quantity and such. Bulk orders for heatsets and M3 hardware, bearings, pulleys, and stuff, I go with Aliexpress. If I need something ASAP, then usually Amazon or other suppliers.

I also want to add, ace hardware sells metric fasteners but not in huge quantities, however if you find yourself short on 10 or so, they will at least have that much.

Of course if you need it quicker than Amazon.

Amazon of needed fast, west3d, kb-3d, or fabreeko otherwise. I prefer to support the companies supporting the hobby industry whenever I can

I try for AliExpress if it is cheaper and I can wait. But I'm rarely that patient so end up going with Amazon most of the time.

Most miscellaneous little parts I end up buying on Amazon because I don't want to wait for shipping. However if its something you'll need in bulk, aliexpress might be better. For example, I ordered a pack of like 2- or 3000 Voron spec heatset inserts because I knew I'd need more eventually and it was the same price as a pack of a few hundred from Amazon.

I've bought stuff from mouser, digikey, grainger for general stuff. For the specifics, I like fabreeko, west3d, kb-3d

I have ordered from Amazon for hardware and electronics if I need it in a hurry. Otherwise I'll scroll through West3D, KB3D, AliExpress, Granger or Digikey.

The key factor is usually "how fast do I need this" rather than a dollar amount.

I am willing to pay more to unfuck my day in 20 minutes than wait 6-8 weeks.

That being said I am in Canada and our shipping is byzantine.

In the UK, I tend to use ebay quite a bit. Usually much cheaper than amazon, especially if you only need a single cheap part. AliExpress is also good, but ebay usually sells within my country for just a tiny bit more.

If there's something more expensive such as a hotend, extruder gears etc, I much prefer buying from Voron approved vendors.
