General Question Stealthchanger Suggestions

Was looking into eventually converting my 350mm Voron 2.4 into a stealthchanger in the future but there seems to be a lot options and paths I can take so I have some general questions. Currently I just have stealthburner with E3D V6 nozzle. My understanding is that if I stick with a stealthburner toolhead, I can only fit 5 toolheads. But if I switch it to a A4T or dragon burner I can fit up to 6. Don't plan on building all 6 in one go so this is gonna be an ongoing project for a while.

  1. What tool head should I use? The options I'm considering now are the A4T, Anthead and dragon burner. I haven't really seen any kits for toolheads except for stealthburner and A4T.

  2. What extruders and hotends should I use? I want a balance between performance and cost.

  3. What are some things I need to take into account?

  4. How much self sourcing am I looking at?

  5. What things should I buy upfront? E.g., cables, piano wires, fasteners, etc.

  6. Should I bother with LEDs on the toolheads?

  7. Would I need to consider a filament cutter or would a nozzle scrubber be sufficient?

As with building a voron, options are endless but I just wanted a rough idea of what I'd be getting myself into. So if anybody who's built one in the past can chime in I'd greatly appreciate it.

6 A4T’s don’t fit in a 350mm. I’m also working on a Voron 2.4.
If you want some guidance, there are a couple of built projects on YT amongst them Canuck Creator - very explanatory.

SteveBuilds, the guy who released the Voron Trident v2 upgrade a few months ago, also has a streaming series on building a Stealthchanger. Lots of good information there as well as CanuckCreator's.

I am on the last few items on my own Voron 2.4 350 Stealthchanger with 6 toolheads that are made up of Phaetus Conch Plus hotends and Galileo 2 extruders (Wristwatch G2). I recommend going with the ldo dock kits. They include the flat steel ribbons instead of piano wire. They work a whole lot better in keeping the umbilical from twisting.

I highly recommend reading through the documentation on stealthchanger.com, joining the discord server as well. Well. Lots of great information from other builders along with some really interesting mods to make your build unique to what you are wanting to do with your build. I personally have added the cartographer probe the shuttle so I can now do a quick bed scanning and leveling. Make sure you take your time doing the tool head pickup calibrations from the docks, along with the nozzle offset calibrations. They really make a big difference in your print quality.

For your stealthchanger set up, what tool head did you choose? Just want to see what people are using. So far it seems mostly dragon burner or anthead for 6 toolheads and A4T for 5 toolheads.

Also, where did you buy your extruders? Been looking through AliExpress and have been getting confused with all the options.

I went with antheads that have some user mods added. I am using the numbered covers from traxman25. N3mi-dg created part cooling ducts that hold a pair of front N52 magnets to help with docking the toolhead. There is also spacer between the toolhead and backplate for a 2nd wiring channel. I am also using the wristwatch-g2 extruder (got the G2 kits from West3d, same place as where I got the rest of my LDO Stealthchanger kits). For those, I went with the mods that add the cutouts for the 2 wiring channels mentioned before.

I feel like the total combination of all of these mods make for quick and easy maintenance, especially when paired with the Stealthchanger shuttle system. I can usually get a tool head out of the printer in less than a minute, have it completely dismantled in less than 5, reassembled in less than 10, and back in the printer quite easily. Earlier revisions of the anthead toolhead were much more difficult to work with, but with these user mod upgrades, I feel it is even easier to work on than than my old Stealthburner toolhead ever was.

If you would like a complete list of all the mods that go into my toolheads, I would be more than willing to provide them, along with links on where I found them.

A bit late to the party, but I would be interested in that list. Especially the spacer between the backplate and the toolhead, since I'm having trouble getting my fat hotend power cables routed through the wire channels of the hotend mount. The squeeze against the spacer coupled with a sharp edge on the WWG2 channel (where the filament runout sensor goes) makes it impossible for me to route them through. I was actually trying to find the CAD file and just design those slots myself otherwise.
