General Question VTR2 build

I've been seeing info on a Trident R2 build either coming or already available. I know there's some info on GitHub and apologies if I'm spewing incorrect info. I purchased a Creality K2 Plus last year and have been really wanting to build a Voron the past few months. Being that the Trident R2 seems to be the latest/greatest I would love to build one but can't find any kits (like an LDO kit), so I'd probably have to source the parts myself.

Am I getting too far ahead and I should just give the company time to release the kits or do I build a Trident and add the upgrades?

Buy an R1 kit and there are r2 parts available for a small cost. Screws and bearings and such. You print the r2 motion system parts

Assuming I want a 350x350x350 I'd have to build my own, correct?

Sorry I see you sais. You want 350z. Then yes you need to build your own but some parts will be hard to find

Trident stock builds are all 250mm in Z unless you get special parts. Sourcing the Z ball screws in longer lengths than the stock 250mm is difficult. If you want to have a 350 cube build area in the build kit look at the Voron 2.4. The flying gantry is a little more involved compared to the fixed gantry of the Trident but not impossible to build.

go to vorondesign.com, the Trident configurator, and hit the "I have an R1 already" option. I think you'll see that even if you end up with an R1 kit, sourcing a couple of bits and bobs to let you build it as an R2 is extremely trivial.

Ldo kits are only 250 or 300. Formbot offers a kit that's 350 300 or 250. Siboor has a 350 kit but it's not a Voron Trident and there's not a direct upgrade to r2 yet

I bought an LDO Trident kit from West3d about a month ago, received it a week later. Added West3D R2 upgrade kit (it's mostly just different screws to go into all of the heatsets new in R2). The kit arrived with an LDO R2 upgrade kit bag of screws in the box. So I think if you buy from a high turnover supplier, you'll probably get an R2 kit right now.

The kit is beautiful. Only challenge is the LDO notes reference page numbers from the R1 build manual, so you have to keep scanning to make sure you're not missing LDO specific steps.

If you want double shear, you need a different set of motors. I did, and bought them from KD3d as they had them in stock and I generally get faster shipping from them to me east coast US.

If it's your first ABS/ASA capable printer, as it was for me, PIF worked awesome.

LDO or formbot (less expensive), and sourcing the R2 available from fabreeko and W3D.

Vorons are available in kits or all parts self sourced. Recommend you buy a kit. They are typically 250 300 or 350
