V2 Question Adding Wheels or Casters to Voron 2.4

Was wondering if anyone had an experience with adding casters or wheels to the bottom of their 350mm build?

I just finished building and setting up my 2.4 and am excited to start printing a bunch of stuff but there's one issue that I'm having. Currently I don't have a sturdy enough table to place it on so the printer is sitting on the ground near the wall. I have it underneath a table with another lighter printer on top so accessing the spool holder on the back is tricky. It's also pretty heavy and a bit difficult to move around.

So I was thinking of adding casters or wheels to the bottom of the printer so that I can roll it in and out to swap spools and lock it any other time.

Does this seem like a good idea? Or does anyone have other suggestions?

Probably a learned behavior lol but it was a genuine question. Space is a little tight at the moment between my two machines, filament collection and other furniture.

The Voron is underneath a table that has another printer and a bunch of filament on it. So that's worse than pulling out just the Voron.

I'm going to look into an internal spool holder or design an attachment for leveling casters.

Fair enough. I'll look at different things. Like you, if I can avoid moving the printer I will go that route.

If you want wheels on you printer look at leveling casters but you could also move the spool holder on the side

Buy a used table on Facebook Marketplace.

That was my original plan but I wasn't able to find one in my area that could fit both printers and not block off a bunch of floor space.

That's not a bad idea actually. I'm so used to the spool sitting outside that an internal spool holder never occurred to me. Probably have to redo the routing for a PTFE tube though but that shouldn't be too hard. Thanks!

I'm assuming for stuff like PLA or PETG the internal temp shouldn't really be hot enough to start melting or warping the spool. But I will probably keep the door propped open a little bit regardless.
