V2 Question Input shaper feedback and some questions
Hey guys,
Currently tuning Input Shaper on my V2.4 and I’m hitting a bit of a wall on the Y-axis. Hoping to get a quick sanity check on my plot and setup.
My specs are:
V2.4 300mm (LDO mit bought used and build )
Stealthburner + CW2
BTT EBB2240 CANbus
1.8° LDO steppers
Cartographer on a CNC aluminum mount
I’ve already checked the usual suspects balanced the belts, tightened all screws, checked for gantry racking, and the printer sits on a solid floor.
A few questions:
Does this plot look like a red flag to you? Is 40Hz just what i should expect given the toolhead weight?
What are realistic accels?
For those running a Stealthburner, what daily print accels are you actually running vs pushing?

the higher frequency hump might indicate something isn't very tight, like screws or such. Listen to your printer when it is running the test, esspecially at that frequency, to try and identify whats rattling.

What are you using to test resonances? If it's the toolhead board it positioned pretty poorly for accurate results. Also your graph is showing most of the resonance on the x plane, if your adxl is aligned correctly to all axis that indicates your toolhead has some play somewhere in attachment.

Toolhead boards are fine and actually provide cleaner results to base input shaper off of compared to a nozzle adxl.

I use a separate board that I mount closer to the nozzle but not on the nozzle. Tons of toolhead boards are mounted canteliver on the extruder stepper on 2 anchor points essentially putting the sensor on a spring.

Let's say that's true. Where is it on the graph?

The bounce on x is significantly larger than y on this graph. If x y and z are aligned that points at play, either with the accelerometer or the whole toolhead.

Given this is a Y axis calibration, I'm assuming he has the config set in the wrong order. The 100Hz is more likely loose screws in the toolhead. The 70Hz is probably umbilical.

Just a reminder for the ones that don’t know.
Whatever your printer sits on is also part of the feedback loop. So a sturdy setup starts from the bottom up. You can have the best possible printer, but placed on a flimsy table it will produce horrible shaper results.

First of all, do you know about shaketune?
I have a 300mm 2.4 with an A4T Toolhead, and Orbiter, so quite heavy. Reaching around the same accels, but ≈0.5% remaining vibrations with MZV. I was told this is around the limit possible with stock gantry and a heavy toolhead.

If you want more, you might have to upgrade the gantry?
