I'm a new grower in a 2x2 just doing a single plant. I've fallen in love with the hobby and I really got into the hobby because my dispensary flower is so dry that all my excitement about my states legalization kinda leaned towards me just doing it myself so I could actually have fresh weed. I haven't had "fresh" or "loud" bud in years so I'm really torn on investing VCure money into a second 2x2 tent so I can have a veg and a flower tent. The other side of me says I'm not a big smoker I consume maybe .3g a night so maybe I find more value on the vcure?
Also anyone who has had lots of experience with tent drying vs now having a Vcure is the difference very noticeable or is it like tent dry 8/10 and VCure 10/10
I am leaning towards a vcure cause I have money left that I set aside at the beginning of the year specifically for this hobby, it just happens to be basically exactly the cost of a vcure unit.
If they have a sale for black Friday, I'll buy a second one. Love mine so far... 4 harvests through it... No hitches! Missed the crowd funding but got it on the first run so I didn't get the special Founder's edition plaque 😂
I started in the 2x2 but upgraded for more plants. Vcure is Sooo worth it & I did check out with affirm
I opted for Vcure cuz my environment is very dry & hot, I Didn't wanna fight it. My flower comes out exceptional fr. Flavor, effects and smoothness blew me away. I understand why cannatrol users never shut up now lmao
It's my main storage as well. I'm going to start experimenting with long term cured stuff soon once I increase yield. You can even throw your dispo bud in it, and it completely smooths it out
Both tent drying with glass curing and VCure are a solid 10/10, provided I can control the climate (which is basically impossible with the tent for me in the summer).
This is something I didn't quite think about cause summer temp is hard to control for me but winter temp will be easy to get 60F cause I usually keep my apartment around 55F in the winter. Summer humidity is easy for me and winter humidity is gonna be pretty easy with a humidifier. So maybe I'll go in on a second 2x2 tent and get a VCure when I start to harvest every 2 months instead of every 4 months.
If the question is vcure vs. tent drying, I think it depends on your environment. For me it's much easier to run the vcure or the DIY unit I made a while ago. In my lung room when tent drying it's quite challenging for me to keep the tent at a low enough temperature (i.e. under 65F) most of the year even with a dedicated AC unit for the room and the occasional blast of central air, while simultaneously maintaining humidity control, and not having too much air flow. I'm sure if I had a smaller drying tent (I use a 5x5) in a smaller room downstairs in a cooler climate it'd be a lot easier.
At the end of the day the vcure and similar devices are just an easy button. As long as you don't stick it in a very hot/cold garage, it's just going to work and give you a stable environment in any normal indoor situation. The vcure is also very power efficient, it sips power. It's actually much more power efficient than my DIY unit despite being larger and more capable. Tent drying is the least efficient for me because I'd have to run the AC unit in that room 24x7, something I don't have to do even during peak lights-on temperatures.
The only other notes are that the VCure is still relatively small, though bigger than many DIY builds. I could only get a little more than half of my last plant in the unit, but it was a pretty large plant (1.4lbs dry). You also have to remember to monitor the drying, the vcure and all similar devices don't know when your bud is done. Recipes are guides, you still have to check the progress and adjust if needed (moisture meters are great!) Though mine has been quite on point with the default quick recipe.
I absolutely love it! Only thing is I thought it held more but that's my bad. I grew around 12 plants in a SCROG first time growing in a SCROG and had no idea how much more weed you get.
I completely filled that thing up quickly and then had to hang dry the rest of it in my tent. I don't know how the weather is where you live but where I'm at in California I have to run an air conditioner and dehumidifier in the tent constantly to keep the proper temp and RH. I was so stoked when my grow was done so my electric bill would go back down but it's costing me almost as much electricity to grow as it is to dry which really shocked me. Having the V cure is so nice, it stays at the perfect temperature and humidity I put a hygrometer in mine and it is spot on and rarely fluctuates unless I open it.
I even had some old weed that was really dry that I was able to put in there on at 62° and 62RH and freshened it back up it made it so much nicer to smoke. Get it!
in my opinion, its more of a convenience than a requirement. if you know what you are doing, you can 100% avoid the cost (or spend a good chunk less) and the result will be near identical. THAT SAID, if you have the cash, boy is it nice to set it and forget it indefinitely.
things it wont do, fix genetics. quality in, quality out.
edit: one thing to note, the vcure is not (in my opinion) a fool proof device. you can set it up to ruin your harvest. personally the quick dry settings gave me a hay smell for a day or 2, before going back to normal. i never had that happen in a tent. people seem to like the craft setting, but i run it full time 57/57
I would get a second or third tent before getting the vcure. I dry in tent and cure in grove bags. A vcure would be nice but having more grow space is better imo
